Message from Owner

Our bird flew from its cage yesterday and we can’t find her. 😭😢💔 We last saw her in Los Angeles on a tree on Corinth Ave. near Sawtelle and Exposition, and then she flew off up into the sun and we lost sight of her. We looked for her in the general direction she flew in, but we lost her. 😭 She is a good flyer, but she is not conditioned for flight, so she will probably get tired quickly. Ordinarily she’s pretty independent and will fly away from people, but it’s very possible that she is tired, hungry, and thirsty, so she may fly towards people or balconies for respite and nourishment. If that happens, please just put out a small bowl of water for her. She will probably eat some millet if you happen to have that on hand. If you see or find her, please call or text.

Go out early when light an call her name. Put her cage out front if you can. Cross-post on Nextdoor, Pawboost, Petfinder, 911 Parrot Alert. I pray you find your beloved bird! Don't give up, like you said she probably didn't fly too far! 🙏 ❤️ 🦜

Posted on Lost and Found birds of the US https://m.facebook.com/groups/637611853061306/permalink/3688915134597614/?mibextid=Nif5oz To Ipo's owner: We are so sorry to hear your bird is missing. Here are some ideas to assist in your search. *Create a post on Pawboost, NextDoor & Ring, if you haven’t already. *During the daytime: use a wireless Bluetooth speaker to broadcast flock calls or your voice, shake treat bags or anything that might attract attention to food, put the cage out where it can be seen. *During the evening when searching is over, design & print off flyers with photo & contact information. These can be encased in a ziplock to keep weatherproof & posted in areas where allowed like parks, poles & any nearby gathering areas. Also drop off some at vet clinics, pet supply stores, anything within a 5 mile radius. Contact local shelters/rescues & even the police dept - they do pick up found/stray pets all the time. Make sure the world knows - neighbors esp ones that have bird feeders/baths/pools. Hand them out while searching the area. Join every local social media group there is. Run an ad in your local newspaper - some run one for free in lost & found (or cheap). Also check with local bird watcher groups - they’re always out & about. Flyers cannot be placed in mailboxes. *PLEASE CHECK WITH LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTERS & FILE A MISSING PET REPORT*

You must remain on foot searching. Inform your neighbours. Put up posters. Spreading awareness is key. Play lovebird flock calls from a Bluetooth speaker or your phone to get their attention. It will likely end up at someone's feeder in the area, and will have to learn how to survive from the local sparrows. If you have another lovebird and a proper carrier, that would be the best way to lure back to you. Please exhaust all efforts.
