Message from Owner

Valentino is a quiet kitty and rarely meows. His meow sounds more like a ‘maoh’. He was very naive about the danger of dogs. I allowed him outside because the weather was nice along with my other three indoor/outdoor cats. I left the back door open so that he could come and go as he pleased. He was not afraid of our two medium sized dogs. He would hiss at them and they backed away. He felt safe and confident. Until he went to the abandoned residence next door. The neighbor behind that residence has about 4-5 dogs. I heard them barking and went outside to find Valentino holding on to tree limbs right on the fence line about 20 feet up in the air. He was quiet; didn’t make a sound. His white fur looked dirty. Did he get roughed up by the dogs in their own yard? I called my son and he said the dogs would quickly get bored and leave him alone. They stopped barking soon thereafter. I went inside and started praying for him. I didn’t want to attempt to assist him because my presence would agitate the dogs again. It was too painful for me to watch him up there. I left it in God’s hands to help him get down. About an hour and a half later I went to check on him and he was gone. Later I ran outside to the back yard to see why one of my dogs was barking and I couldn’t see a squirrel or anything else. Was she barking at Valentino as he was trying to make his way back inside? He hasn’t been seen by any of my neighbors. He will get close enough to be fed and drink water, but not to be touched. I was the only one he felt safe with, and he would play rough with my son. My other family members and strangers (with the exception of one) could not pet him, as he would not allow it. He would hiss and attempt to scratch them in self defense. In 2021 I found him and his two siblings abandoned in a box next to the side entrance of a QuickTrip gas station on Blanco Road around 1 am when I stopped for a break while driving rideshare. Their eyes were still closed and their dried up umbilical cords were still attached. They were no more than 5 days old. His two siblings did not make it a few days later. He survived. He was raised by a human, not a cat, so he doesn’t really know cat etiquette. He only accepts grooming by one of my cats, but I have never seen him groom the cat back. He will allow sleep cuddles from that particular cat. He doesn’t like the other two cats. He will eat close to other cats. He will allow other cats to move in on the dish he is eating from and back away. Although I’m not sure if he would do the same if he was starving. He always had food security. He is the type of cat that eats a little bit at a time and then returns to his plate an hour or two later to nibble a bit more. It would take him all night to eat one 5 oz. can of food. I had to separate his feeding location from my other three cats that gobble up everything within an hour or two. He’s my fur baby. I’m the only one in the whole world that he trusts. I’m heartbroken. He has a loving residence waiting for him.

What to do if you lose your Cat 1. Search all places inside and around your house as cats can hide in small places. 2. Shake their treat bag and softly call their name. 3. Search at dusk and dawn with a flashlight as the light will pick up their eyes. Outside they tend to hide under shrubs, under porches, in open sheds & drainage ditches. You can shake their treats while looking outside too. 4. Put something with your scent on it outdoors, on a porch or deck if possible or in a garage with the door cracked. Sometimes the scent brings them home. You can also put out their litter box but depending on where you live, it could attract predators. 5. Post on nextdoor & Ring Neighbors app. 6. Post on pawboost. You can download a free flyer here. 7. Make a lost pet report to all the local shelters especially in areas that have close boundaries. 8. Post on FB Lost & Found Groups 9. Post on PetFBI site and use .org as the ending. 10. If chipped, report to chip company but don’t forget to change status when your cat is found. 12. Ask your neighbors to check their garages and sheds. 13. Last you can rent a humane trap at your local shelter and set it with some tasty food. If you have a lot of predators in your area, you may want to skip this step. Your cat may be coming around the house late at night.

I Pray you find your baby, In Jesus Name, Try calling out for him after night as well when it’s quiet, shake a bag of food if you haven’t already, leave a bed outside with food.
