Message from Owner

Hi! My name is Audrey, and I am hoping to hear back if anyone has seen my cat Mikey. He is a sweet and adventurous boy who loves to play outside and explore. After he went out, it rained heavily and he did not find his way back home! I am hoping someone took him in during the rain, and he is the kind of kitty who will go up to anyone. Please reach out if you have seen him!

I saw only the head of a cat who looked like your cat on Monday morning. I threw out three large scoops of food for him. I live at 1202 Evans Road 78258 in the drainage pipe behind bldg 16. My former feral would travel between 7-20 miles a day, so hopefully you find your baby soon.

Leave some of your laundry outside your home to help him find his way home by scent. Also leave a door, lower window, garage door cracked open enough for him to find a way back into the home. They normally try to get back inside the same way they got out. If he is scared, he may be moving at night when it is quieter and looking for a way back inside. Hope this helps 🙏

What to do if you lose your Cat 1. Search all places inside and around your house as cats can hide in small places. 2. Shake their treat bag and softly call their name. 3. Search at dusk and dawn with a flashlight as the light will pick up their eyes. Outside they tend to hide under shrubs, under porches, in open sheds & drainage ditches. You can shake their treats while looking outside too. 4. Put something with your scent on it outdoors, on a porch or deck if possible or in a garage with the door cracked. Sometimes the scent brings them home. You can also put out their litter box but depending on where you live, it could attract predators. 5. Post on nextdoor & Ring Neighbors app. 6. Post on pawboost. You can download a free flyer here. 7. Make a lost pet report to all the local shelters especially in areas that have close boundaries. 8. Post on FB Lost & Found Groups 9. Post on PetFBI site and use .org as the ending. 10. If chipped, report to chip company but don’t forget to change status when your cat is found. 12. Ask your neighbors to check their garages and sheds. Your cat may be coming around the house late at night.

A post gets seen more when people respond and interact with it. The algorithm heavily rewards engagement. When users comment, like, or share your post, it pushes it higher in the news feed and displays it to a broader audience. Update the post with what's happening and keep responding to those that comment. 😊

Act Fast to Locate Your Cat! Don't wait thinking your baby will simply come back. Every day counts! Shelters are being forced to adopt out pets after the 3-5 day waiting period. Your Cat is likely very close to home, however, some folks take found cats to shelters/Humane Society. It is important not to wait on checking these places. View rehoming sites, too. Put up signs ASAP . . . Put up in your neighborhood, in your car windows, vets, groomers, pet stores, etc. Post on as many of these sites as possible. Keep record of your posts and respond to everyone so they contine to help. View these sites daily! Cats can hitch rides in engines, jump in UPS trucks, etc. Ask about found injured pets since they may be at a vet or another area. Unfortunately, you may have a neighbor that doesn't like cats and may have relocated him/her. When searching lost & found sites, don't limit to just your area. ***Since lost pets become adoptable after just a few days, view the various sites: 24petconnect - many shelters list cats here Adoptapet Petfinder - many shelters list cats here Petsalive Pets.thecountyoffice .com Popular Rescues to check ADLtexas - view lost & Found and Adoptables Charmingpetrescue San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition Humane Society - many locations SAHumane Second Chance Cavy Rescue Update microchip ASAP! Post Pics that show body markings so others can match to found cats. List lost location and zip code up in post Monitor all of your posts. Do not rely on someone calling or messaging you. Respond to everyone that comments so your post and those helping stay active. People will think your baby has been found if there's no activity on the post. Put a cell number but be very careful of scammers. Never send money or a code to someone that says they have your cat. Follow other lost cat posts that look similar to your cat...greatly improves the chances of finding your baby.
