Message from Owner

Moo disappeared from our garden sometime after 10pm Saturday night (October 18th) and hasn’t been seen since. He is microchipped and neutered. He is a semi feral cat who we’ve worked hard to build trust with and he loves to be outside, so he has his own little hse in our garden. He was last inside his hse Saturday night but gone the next morning. He’s had a regular routine for more than two months now of 3 meals a day and brushing because he’s a scruffy lad, so we are extremely worried that he’s disappeared suddenly and not come back. There were some fireworks Saturday night but he returned to his hse after they were finished. He doesn’t like to be handled, picked up or put into a basket (he will fight you lol). He may respond to his name based on familiarity but as we only named him this a few months ago he might not. We are desperately looking for him as regular fireworks celebrations are approaching, and we want to bring him inside the hse. Please if anybody has seen him, reach out.

You may have done some of this already, but if not it might be worth putting a photo through the doors of houses/flats in nearby roads to home. Many people don’t walk around their local area and some don’t go out a great deal so they might not realise a visiting cat in their garden is a missing one. Plus, posters at the railway stations, bus stops, and newsagents. A poster at the station worked for me. Mine was found after 10 days, so don’t give up hope. Also if you have any used cat litter, (or bedding), spread bits of it around your borders outside. Cats can pick up their scent from some distance. I hope your cat is back home with you soon.🙏🤞🐾

Please ignore the bits that don't apply Putting notes through the neighbours doors is good as not everyone is on social media. Checkany cctv that's around. Ask them to open their sheds and garages for a while to allow a frightened cat time to escape. Check all gardens and water butts. Tip the contents of your vacuum cleaner outside to scent your area. Go out at night when it's quieter rattling food and listen for miaawing. Take a torch with you as the beam will reflect the cat's eyes. If no result widen your food rattling area and put posters up. If he/she's not neutered he/she will be out after a queen on heat or waiting for any available Tom. If this is so, please, for the sake of his/her health and safety do the right thing. Alert your old neighbours if you have moved as cats often try to return home. They need to be kept in for at least a month after a house move so that they realise they have a new home Post on your local Nextdoor app too www.next-door.co.uk If he's not neutered you need to widen your search to possibly 5 miles. He's at risk of catching FiV, territory fights and crossing busy roads. Unneutered females are usually pregnant when found. Ask your postman/woman to keep an eye out

Put items of your unwashed clothing outside your home so he can pick up your scent. Call very late at night and early mornings shaking the treats and look behind walls and hedges. Go out in your garden between 2am and 4am call listen and wait. Put posters up and leaflet drop in your area and physically ask neighbours to check their sheds and garages. Phone local vets. Good luck

Knock personally on all surrounding neighbours doors. Cats can travel quite far so you will need to consider all the roads around your property and a little bit beyond. Ask them to check their sheds and any outbuildings check their sheds/gardens. Leaflet the area with an a 1 mile radius with contact details and a photo . Flood the area with posters. Remember lots of people are not on social media sites.
