Message from Owner

Our heirloom turtle Tita managed to escape from the backyard at the location described. We searched the nearby yards but could not find her. Please contact me at if you see a turtle in a place they're not usually found. We miss her very much!

Danielle Frazzetto is that free to use? I'm asking because I really only use #MetaAI to give answers to online problems, debates, and the likes but I hear ChatGPT is apparently more detailed or sumthn 🤷🏻

🐢 1. Check the Most Likely Hiding Spots FIRST Turtles rarely go far, especially in a yard. Look closely in: • Under bushes, hedges, and low plants • Along fences or walls (they tend to follow edges) • Under decks, sheds, or patios • In tall grass or leaf piles • Near any water (puddles, drains, pools) 👉 Get low to the ground—sometimes you’ll miss them standing up. ⸻ 🌿 2. Think “Cool, Dark, and Safe” Turtles hide where they feel protected: • Shady spots during the day • Damp soil or mulch • Burrowed slightly under dirt or leaves If it’s hot in Florida, your turtle is very likely hiding somewhere cool and shaded. ⸻ 🕵️‍♀️ 3. Do a Slow, Grid Search • Divide your yard into sections • Search one section at a time carefully • Move things gently (pots, boards, decor) They blend in really well, so go slow. ⸻ 🌙 4. Search Early Morning or Evening Turtles are more active when it’s cooler: • Sunrise • Sunset You might catch it moving instead of hiding. ⸻ 🥬 5. Use Food to Draw It Out Set out strong-smelling favorites: • Leafy greens (romaine, kale) • Strawberries or fruit • Commercial turtle food Place food in a few spots and check back quietly. ⸻ 🚧 6. Block Escape Routes If possible: • Close gates • Check for holes in fences • Put temporary barriers along edges This keeps the turtle from wandering farther. ⸻ 📣 7. Expand the Search if Needed If you don’t find it in a day: • Check with neighbors (turtles wander into nearby yards) • Look along sidewalks, roadsides, and drainage areas ⸻ ⚠️ Important Tips • Turtles can hide for days and suddenly reappear • Don’t assume it’s gone too quickly—they’re often just VERY well hidden • Be careful moving objects so you don’t accidentally hurt it
