☆Best strategies searching for a missing cat☆ by Kat~(a former police bloodhound handler, crime scene investigator/search-&-rescue manager) The action items on this list are meant to be repeated often. ✔ Search thoroughly around your property, inside as well as outside. Vary your search times, keeping in mind that cats tend to be most active late at night and early in the morning when it’s quiet. ✔ Ask neighbors for permission to search their property and try to expand your search three to five houses in either direction. Make sure to look inside their garages or any other structures where a cat could get trapped. ✔ Repeat your search and recheck the same spots. Cats may get spooked out of their original hiding spot and find another one in a place that you’ve looked already. If your cat is used to being outside, expand your search. ✔ Post large eye-catching posters (e.g., use brightly colored paper) with your lost pet information around the immediate neighborhood. ✔ Post your lost pet information on social media sites like Facebook, (Nextdoor .com & PetAmberAlert .com) ✔ Set humane traps in spots where you can check them frequently; shelters will often rent these traps to the public. ✔ You can also use your house or garage as a trap by leaving doors open. ✔ Check all the shelters that serve your area, not just the one nearest to your home. (Make sure your cat has a microchip or wears a collar and ID tag, so you can be reunited easily if he or she ends up in a shelter.) ✔ Sometimes, they are still inside the house. A near-tragic example is the case of Bess, a two-year-old cat who disappeared one night from her family’s home. Bess remained missing until a few weeks later — when the family suddenly heard a faint “meow” coming from, of all things, a hinged window seat in the living room. ->“Bess is a perfect example of why you should comb every inch of your house thoroughly,” Kat says.

**Everybody's situation is going to be different. But, I got my cat back this way. Do not rely solely on this method. You MUST be actively seeking out your cat. *Check my other comment* I've even had a friend try it when she lost her 2 cats during a move & it worked for her too. My cat is very scared of everyone/everything. While I was out looking for him, he was trying to get back in the house, but noises in the neighborhood scared him off. Since I had security cameras, I saw him make the attempt. Otherwise, I'd have no clue he was trying. I decided to open my doors. I secured my other animals in my back bedroom & opened the doors. Within a couple of hours my cat was back inside my house. When my friend lost her two cats, I told her to open the doors. Nothing was left in the house. She opened her doors just enough to where it looked like it was closed from a distance but open enough to let a cat in. She placed bricks on either side of the door to secure them open. They found their way back into the house 3 a.m. that night. **It happened again in May 2022.** One of my cats accidentally got out. So I blocked off my bedroom, opened the window and placed a fan by the window to blow the scent of my house and wet cat food out into the environment. I also took some of my clothing and his bedding leading up to a chair I placed under our window. At 5 a.m. I hear him jump in the window meowing and growling scared as all can be. I didn't move or make a sound until he ran under the bed. I closed the window. He was still so scared, he wanted nothing to do with me for a good 3 hours. Once he calmed down, he had a lot to tell me.

Lost Cat Go outside and call for your cat like every five or 10 minutes relentlessly. If you have a can of treats, I would shake that every five or 10 minutes as well. A lot of times cats are scared and hiding close by. I say this from experience with my own cat I really hope you find your kitty.🐈‍⬛ 🙏🙏🙏
