Tips to help you bring home your cat: Most important tip, do not wait for your cat to show up! Be very active in your efforts to bring them home, fliers, door knocking, going out at night with flashlight, humane trap etc. If you’re unsure if he/she’s still close by an outdoor camera can be very helpful. It doesn’t have to be a Ring that requires a subscription. An indoor/outdoor Wyze purchased from Amazon for less than $40 (does require separate purchase of outdoor power cable but that is cheap) can be used. The camera csn be set up to alert a cell phone app when it detects movement. Leave food out close to house/apartment entry to encourage your cat to stay close by rather than wander away looking for resources. Also, if possible, leave the door or window to the house/apartment or garage cracked open because they often will wander up and come right inside.

I'm sorry kitty is missing. Hang fliers--they work. Notify the microchip company that she is missing. Visit local animal controls in person. Notify local veterinarians. Post to the Next Door app for area lost. If kitty is normally indoors only she is likely very close to home. Sit quietly outside at night w a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Put out stinky mackerel or canned pink salmon. A trail cam can be helpful. You might need a live trap. Don't lose hope. Lost Cat Tips: 🐈 1. Look inside cupboards and closets, under beds, behind curtains and furniture, inside beds (under the covers), under furniture (cats will climb inside furniture/boxspring mattresses by ripping open the underside). 2. Get on social media and ask people in the area to check sheds, garages, under porches and hedges and keep a look out for your cat. Don’t forget to door knock too, as not everybody is on social media. 3. If your kitty is normally an INSIDE cat, then he/she is likely VERY CLOSE to your home. Indoor cats usually find a hiding spot very close by. Check under yours and your neighbors decks, bushes, wood piles and sheds. The best time to search for a cat is during the evening when there is less traffic noise and fewer people on the streets. Bring along a flashlight and shine the light under hedges, porches, cars, trees and roofs. The eyes will glow when the light hits them. Carry a container with cat treats to shake. 4. Leave a dirty t-shirt or some old shoes outside, this is a safer way to attract the cat using scent. It won’t attract wildlife or neighborhood cats but can be enticing enough to flush out your cat. 5. Put smelly food (tuna/sardines) outside and watch from a distance. Don’t leave food out 24/7, as it may attract wildlife. 6. Leave a cardboard box outside (under shelter),with straw in it, for the cat to hide in if he or she returns when you are not home. 7. Leave your garage door cracked open, day and night. Cats roam more at night and may return home. 8. Tell your local mail carrier to watch out for him/her. 9. If there are sightings of the cat, try to borrow a trap from a local rescue or shelter to trap the cat. 10. Notify police, vets and animal shelters in the area. Visit your local shelters in person, do not call and ask if your cat is there. The people who work there makes mistakes all the time. They even make mistakes on the and miss the micro-chip, so be sure to check the shelter in person.
