He is probably very close to home, just scared & hiding. Look in the early morning hours and late at night when it is quiet outside. If chipped, notify the microchip company.
Tips to help find an indoor cat. Also go out at night and early am as that is when they will try to get inside. Open a garage door and door leading into the house after dusk, she might walk back in on her own. Crack open a window at night to listen for meows.
