If you have a homeowner’s or neighborhood association, ask them to help spread the word with an online posting or email notice.Beware of scamsIf a stranger claims to have found your cat, ask them to describe your pet and send you a photo. Be wary of anyone who asks for money before they’ll return your cat.
PreventionA cat (even an indoor-only one) has a better chance of being returned to you if they always wear a collar and an ID tag with your name, address and telephone number. (Some experts recommend a tag that says “call my owner” and notes whether it’s OK for your cat to be outside.) To further ensure that your cat makes their way home should they ever become lost, ask your veterinarian or local animal shelter to microchip them. Just be sure to keep your contact information up to date with the online microchip registry site, such as the Michelson Found Animals Registry.

If your pet disappears the following are some ways of finding your missing pet:
Notify your neighbors
Contact Police, Vets, shelters and online sites and any other social media sites you know.
Bright colors, simple BOLD letters, with your number and a big pic of your pet. Hang upside down in sheet protectors or gallon ziploc bags on neon posterboard for maximum attention.

1. Put a sign up in your front yard. If the sign is up, neighbors and people passing by know she/he is still missing.
2. Give one to the local mail carriers.
3. Put one on your car window.
4. Driveway drops: a mini flyer (print 4 on one letter size piece of neon paper) in a ziploc bag with a rock for weight. Drive and toss on to driveways like a newspaper.
5. Pass out the mini flyer to anyone out walking their dogs, pushing strollers,
etc.
