IF YOUR CAT IS MISSING 🐾 — READ THIS AS SOON AS YOU CAN!
Cats usually hide close to home and stay silent when scared.
1) Scent + food near home
* Put your worn clothing outside
* Leave strong-smelling food (tuna, sardines, chicken)
* Light scent trail (like chicken broth) toward your door
* Leave a door/window open at night with food nearby
2) Search at night (2–5 AM is key)
* Go out when it’s quiet and dark
* Shake treats, call softly
* Check bushes, sheds, porches, garages with a flashlight (look for eye shine)
3) Posters + alerts ASAP
* Put flyers everywhere (neighbors, poles, stores, mail/UPS drivers)
* Call shelters, animal control, vets—but also visit shelters in person
4) Know how cats behave
* They often stay within 1–4 blocks
* They hide silently for days or longer
* Don’t assume they’re gone just because you don’t hear them
5) Extra help
* Ask neighbors to check sheds/garages
* Use humane traps with smelly food if needed
* Check feral cat groups/FB pages
* If microchipped, update contact info
* Be aware of outdoor risks (like coyotes)
Most cats are found close by—especially between 2–5 AM.
