Put a piece of your worn clothing that has your scent on it outside. Cats can smell from a mile away. Just refresh your scent on it daily by rubbing it on yourself (I used an old T-shirt that I wore for several hours before putting it outside). This has worked for me 3 times with 3 different cats at different places as well as MANY others that I recommended this to. Most cats stay close to home unless they get chased off by a loose dog or something and become lost in the process. So it may take time depending on how far he may have traveled (if that happened). So be patient.
I don't recommend putting any food out because it could attract other neighborhood cats (that could start a cat fight), loose dogs, wild animals and predators searching for food. If you set a trap with food, you may be trapping other animals.
When my cats came home they either meowed loudly at the door or waited on the porch until I opened the door. They knew they were home so they did not attempt to leave again.
I hope and 🙏🙏🙏 that Spooky finds his way home.
I had a black cat named Spooky. He crossed the rainbow bridge and is buried in my backyard.
