If Benson knows his way around he will surely make his way back once his fear subsides. Pkease keep his litter box and some old clothes out . Also keep some of your old clothes/ little litter in the backyard too. He will pick up the scent either way. And most importantly please , please keep your garage/ window crack open. My friends cat returned after 7 days or so right in the middle of night. Be patient and keep watching and waiting. Wishing you best of luck
