Theo's Owner Says

I am completely overwhelmed and still in shock, but after 17 days, our 20 and a half year-old cat, Theo, HAS RETURNED HOME!!!! 💕 He was found at Audobon and Clayton, thanks to neighbors who had seen the poster I put in their mailbox. I am so, so touched by the community support and all the kind, loving people who gave me hope when I was at my worst. I tearily offered the $300 reward to my neighbors, and my neighbor declined and said, if I were to do anything, to donate to the Humane Society. I will be making a $150 donation to the Humane Society and a $150 donation to the APA in her honor!!

Liz Hustedt I always provide the following tips for missing kitties - I know you’ve gotten other tips, but there could be something else here to try: If normally an indoor cat, then kitty is likely hiding real close to home. They tend to freeze in place and may not come out if you call their name. They are masters at hiding and squeezing into small spaces. Use a flashlight to look in, under, behind all dark spaces so that their eyes glow. You can do this during the day, but especially at night when things are quieter. Check inside the house as well just in case. Look up in trees and other high spots in case kitty climbed up to escape another animal. Do NOT put litter box or bedding outside as that can attract other animals/predators. Put some of your dirty laundry/worn clothing outside for the scent. Leave a door cracked open so kitty can get back inside. Set up trail cameras outside and use a humane trap that you can buy at a hardware store or borrow from a rescue. Ask neighbors to check garages and sheds. Hang LOST signs in your area. Post on Nextdoor app, Ring app, area facebook pages, and lost and found facebook pages. Make sure microchip information is accurate. Check local animal shelters in person. Check the 24petconnect website via zip code for intakes.

Sorry your beautiful baby is still lost. You have done so much!! Maybe put up a couple signs on the nearby streets and your street and check shelters again and especially nearby apa, Olivette county center, Humane Society, Stray Rescue, Animal House. I'm sure you checked all around your bushes, yard, garage, and INSIDE your house in closets, drawers, under beds etc.

Melinda Leeah Lee thank you, I agree - I saw the litter box myth and I ended up not putting it out. Well, we've caught the same possum twice with a trap, and we're calling him Timmy Tuna. I keep talking to neighbors and handing out / hanging flyers. I call out for him at night and shake treat boxes in our yard. My husband and I call for him when I'm walking our dog. The hardest part for me is that no one has even glimpsed a *sighting* of him. 😭 I'm still holding out hope, but it's now been 10 days. 💔
