Always require proof of ownership. Do not take their word for it as there are some who take them to resell or worse yet as bait for dog fights. So always require proof of ownership.
Another social media is Craigslist. Check and post under their community section of lost and found area. Their are some people like the elderly who choose not to be on facebook. Others are taking a break from facebook.
