What to do right away • Search close first — most dogs that slip a gate stay within a few blocks • Bring treats, leash, and something that smells like home • Call calmly (don’t chase — scared dogs will run) Get the word out FAST • Post in local Facebook groups + town pages • Use Nextdoor and PawBoost • Repost at different times of day for visibility 📍 Contact local places (don’t skip this) • Animal Control (in case someone already found the dog) • Local shelters & vets (they often scan for microchips) 🏡 Check nearby homes • Knock on doors within a few blocks • Ask neighbors to check: • garages • sheds • under decks/bushes 📄 Make a simple flyer • Big “LOST DOG” headline • Clear photo • Phone number (large font) • Last seen location ⸻ 🧠 Extra tips people miss • Go out early morning & late evening (quieter = dog feels safer) • Leave a worn shirt or bedding outside your house • Keep one person home in case the dog returns ⸻ ⚠️ Safety • Don’t chase — sit low, use a calm voice • Ask for proof before handing dog to anyone (if found) S/N cats n dogs tend to stay close to home - please have your pet Spayed or Neutered and microchipped if you haven’t already. Lots of hazards / dangers being outdoors.

Make a flyer with a clear picture, the word "missing" in big red letters, and your phone ". Pass them out to all neighbors on your street, and the streets near where he went missing. Ask them to check their yards, sheds, under decks- any place he might hide. Put some flyers in plastic sleeves to protect them from the weather and hang them on telephone poles, ask businesses to hang some. Join the Neighbors app by Ring. It's free and you don't need a Ring camera to join. Post the flyer and ask people to check their video for sightings (You can get an idea of which direction he's going in) and contact you. Also, when you go door to door with those flyers you can ask people to check their video for sightings.
