If outdoor cat; It is best to keep cat inside for their safety. Especially black cats (they are stolen the most) and any cats on . CATS ARE STOLEN DAILY all over. It is dangerous for outdoor cats. If outdoors, please get cat FIXED, CHIPPED and A TAG with your PHONE NO. It is not expensive to chip and easier to find if chipped. Alert local shelters and police. If not microchipped, ck shelters in person every day. Not found over phone. Even if chipped, ck shelters. Someone found their chipped cat at shelter. Put up laminated flyers around w pic of pet. Go out late night w flashlight and speak softly outside for a bit until cat feels safe to come out of hiding. Flashlight may catch the cats eyes and light them up. Set up trap w tuna, cats smell and your worn clothing. Post on “Nextdoor” (so many cat reunite on nextdoor) and for “The Love of Louie”. Cats won’t come to you, they depend on you to find them. Scroll thru this site daily. Someone just found theirs by sleeping outside on their porch w flashlight on their face. They had food w them also. You are the best person to get kitty back. CHECK SHELTERS OFTEN! THEY DON’T KEEP LONG. Ck craigslist daily for any FOUND cats in your area. Traps really work. Keep older cat inside. Put a live trap out by the door, in the garage and leave the garage door open about 6-8" with cat food in it. To trap cat: A rescue bought a rotisserie chicken from Kroger and shredded some with some juice and got it in the first try in a trap. They don’t go far from home because they are scared and come out at night time, when quiet. If you use a trap, monitor frequently & also put a blanket in it with your scent. Keep checking this site daily for at least a year.

Check local shelter asap in person asap & every other day. They are not found over the phone. CHECK PETFINDER DAILY IN ABOUT A WEEK OR MORE AFTER MISSING DAY TO SEE IF UP FOR ADOPTION. PLEASE KEEP CKING SHELTERS IN PERSON. NOT JUST CALLING. EVEN IF CHIPPED, CHECK SHELTER ALSO. SOMEONE CHIPPED CAT WAS FOUND AT A SHELTER. CHIP DID NOT SHOW UP WHEN SCANNED.

My cat has gotten out a few times over the last 20 years. Here are a few of the scenarios and how I got him back. one time he was stuck in a raccoon trap the neighbor's yard several houses down And my husband found him. One time he got out and was gone for 10 days before I found him around the block at night underneath a car with a flashlight, I saw his eyes. One time I found him in one of my neighbor's garages a few houses down late at night using the same flashlight technique, he was just laying in the boat that was in the back of their garage. One time he got out and was gone for a few days, I always put flyers and s locked inside a lady's garage that she hadn't been inside for a few days. Looking at night is helpful. Last year when he got out was the first time in a long time and he's old so I worried a lot, I set my alarm and got up every hour on the hour to go outside and walk around calling for him and finally he ran up at about 4:30 a.m. looking often at night is key. They usually stay close . Shake food or treats bags outside or open tins of food. My brother's cat got stuck in a tree about 40 ft up for several days. He's probably nearby and possibly stuck somewhere he cannot get out. If there's a neighborhood Facebook page posts there and put signs up around the neighborhood as well as delivering them personally to people's houses and if there are any stores nearby. Also post on for the love of Louie Facebook page and the next door app. If you have a local humane society, poundcor any place in street animal can be taken go and physically check those places as well. Put stuff that smells like your house and like your cat outside. Good luck ☺️

have you gone door to door letting neighbors know your cat is missing? not everyone is on social media won’t see your posts. leave flyers or large notes if they’re not home. ask neighbors to open their garage and other buildings on the property to see if your cat is inside because it happens often. hopefully a Neighbor found your cat and keeping safe, but doesn’t know where she lives

🚨Please follow these tips immediately suggested by professionals. They have been successful for others. LOST CAT TIPS Your Missing Cat will try to re-enter the home when the neighborhood is quiet. If it all possible, leave the door ajar that the kitty escaped from and secure other companion animals to a separate room of the home. He/she will try to re-enter when the neighborhood is quiet in the evening and overnight hours. Make sure you physically check underneath and in the engine compartment of your vehicles prior to starting in the morning. Cats typically don't go very far, and are hiding, so you'll have to search for them. Put clothing/bedding that smell like him/her and his/her family outside the home immediately. Along with some smelly food such as tuna,. sardines,. mackerel fish in front of camera if you have one. The usually will follow the scent home. If you have a garage, leave the door open enough for him/her to get in. If you live in a mobile home community look under yours and your neighbor's homes. Check around your home: bushes, up in trees, deck, porch etc. If their head fits their body will too! Door-knock neighbors and ask them to check outbuildings, sheds, garages and ring cam footage. Use a flashlight to look under cars, bushes and up in trees for the glow of the kitties eyes. Go out periodically through out the night shaking his/her treats or opening a can of wet food and call to him/her. Listen for any responses and watch for movement and/or eyes peering out. Renting/borrowing/buying a live trap and setting within the first 24 hours your cat has been missing is a good idea. Live traps need to be monitored frequently. Be prepared to release wildlife. You can purchase a live trap at tractor supply store. Use sardines, mackerel fish or tuna in the trap, they will not go in a trap for cat food. The only food they should have access to is what's in the trap or they will not go in. Post on Nextdoor app and any other neighborhood groups on Facebook. Ask neighbors to check security camera footage for sightings of him and to call you ASAP. Post on For the Love of Louie *Michigan Lost Pet Lookers* Also post on pawboost online for lost and found pets. Posting neon posters in your neighborhood is very important to the recovery of your lost pet. Also give a flyer to the mailman. You can use neon poster board from the dollar store. Write missing cat, a description of your cat and phone number with a marker.
