Message from Owner

Missing our kitty Bean! She’s an indoor cat that likes to sneak out. She’s probably scared to death. We have searched all around our block on 4788 47th st S area. Maybe someone had taken her in? Shes friendly and okay to approach.

Our cat went missing and had only been with us for one month. I did a lot of research so I’ll pass on what I learned! Best of luck finding Baby Bean! 💕 Cats like to move at night and hide if it’s warm. They’re super smart, so they will find a cool place to rest and not overheat. Set out items that smell like you, a blanket/hoodie, and the litter box. If you have smelly wet food, that also attracts them back home. Cats who are indoor will often be only a few houses to a few blocks from home and they hide if they’re scared. Hunger/desire to come home has to surpass fear for them to decide to move. Office Depot will do 35 color prints and they sell page protectors (we used those in case of rain) all for around $30. Chat GPT created a missing pet photo for me, which I’d be happy to do for you if you decide you’d like one. I posted to multiple places on Facebook, called the Fargo Pound and left a message 701-232-7312 and also Red River Animal Emergency Hospital 701-478-9299 to be added to their list just in case. Ultimately, I left the door to our back patio cracked open, and tucked our other three pets in the bedroom and laid on the kitchen floor and at 11pm he sauntered back in. Please let me know if I can help in some way. 🩵

Here are some tips to help bring your cat back: Search the neighborhood and ask if you can look in their their yard yourself rather than just ask if they've seen your cat. They might not have noticed if a cat has been hiding under their deck. LOOK IN SMALL SPACES such as bat window wells, under cars, bushes, sheds, under decks, wood piles, drainage pipes etc. I il ***Please go outside and call for her especially once it is dark and quiet. A live trap rented from the pound may be successful. One tip is to use a baby monitor or other security camera pointed out into in your yard toward the trap so you can monitor if and when your cat is coming around sincoe it’s often in the dark of night. I pioneered I Check small spaces she could be hiding under or in. A number of local cats were recently found locked in neighbor's garage attics (ask neighbors to check their garages, sheds, window wells, etc), and another cat was recently found in a nearby drainage ditch.** PUT OUT THEIR LITTERBOX. Sounds weird, but it works. It's about smells. Also maybe put out their bedding or your clothing. PUT OUT SMELLY FOOD like sardines, tuna, canned cat food. Some have put it in a garage with the door part way open, or they even left the window open and food near the sill. Also LEAVE YOUR GARAGE DOOR OPEN a foot. Some cats have come home and been found meowing in their garage in the middle of the night! Post on the Next Door website or app as well to let people in your neighborhood know. Additionally, post on Craigslist, and the HelpingLostPets page and also the Pawboost Facebook page. A free flyer can be made on Pawboost and also on HelpingLostPets. And definitely contact authorities. If you have created the free flyer, you can email or leave a printout with them. Please check the pound every couple days.
