Message from Owner

Our sweet Gus (Asparagus) broke through the screen of one of our windows today, June 25th around 10:00am. We've been looking for her everywhere. We love her dearly and want nothing more than for her to be found safely.

❗ Call the microchip company ASAP, they will send out an alert. ❗️Post flyers everywhere, including local shelters, vets, and police stations. Make sure to call all of them to see if anyone has turned the cat in. ❗️Post on the Citizen App ASAP, it will reach thousands of people in your area in a matter of minutes. ❗️Ask neighbors if they have cameras or ring doorbells, and if they can look at them to see if he passed by. ❗️Buy or rent a trap from a rescue, vet, police station, friend, or neighbor. ❗️Get cans of 9-Lives, put the trap by your house or building, and put the food inside (1 can at a time on a plate). Write a note: “Please don’t touch, trapping lost cat, please call (add your #) if seen.” Check the trap every 15 minutes, as you might catch other wildlife that needs to be released. ❗️Be patient — it can take a couple of days to catch him as cats get scared when not used to being outside, and they act differently. They normally hide during the day and come out at night. ❗️Check under the porches and back decks of neighbors, as they make great hiding spots, along with bushes. ❗Use a flashlight when searching at night, if the light hits her face, her eyes will glow. ❗️Use a drone to scan the area, yards, and hard to access area 🙏🏻 You find him soon 🐈‍⬛

Go out at night to look for him and early am as that is when they will try to get back inside. Crack open a window to listen for meows. At dusk open garage door and door leading into the house, he might walk back in on his own. I know I started making sure all my screens were secure once I started opening my windows, luckily my cats didn’t get far. Let local police know and post on Next Door. Ask neighbors to check under decks and garages.

She is probably very close to home, just scared & hiding. Look in the early morning hours and late at night when it is quiet outside. If chipped notify the microchip company.

Karla Wence He’s most likely still nearby - while no guarantees, a simple, often effective trick, walk around a minimum one block radius of your residence, while vigorously, taking a large container or bag of dry kibble and calling out Gus’s name. It sounds like a dog trick, but Cats are just as highly food motivated as their canine counterparts, and the combo sound of food, and a familiar voice can often assist in getting them to make their way back home or towards the sound of your voice. Try throughout the day and easy, particularly around his regular feeding time wishing for a safe and speedy return for your beloved, Gus
