Message from Owner

Luna is very shy. She has been an indoor cat her entire life, (3yrs). She was outside and was afraid and now I can't find her. She is chipped. If you try to approach her she likes calm gentle voices and she loves temptations treats.I miss her very much. If seen please call Lisa @ Thank you

Lisa, Crucial to act quickly with these very effective steps to recover her: Escaped indoor-only cats will stay hidden very well, very close to the house/escape point in fear of the unfamiliar outdoor surroundings. ***Leave escape door open as much & as late at night as possible so she can sneak back inside. Put a trail of your dirty clothes &/or her bedding (familiar scent items) leading up to and into the door & a trail of tuna juice leading up to the door. Remain very QUIET well inside the door . DON’T put any food or litterbox outside as it can attract predators so she’ll stay hidden. But ok to put smelly wet food 2-3 ft inside escape door only while you’re inside that room to monitor & quickly & quietly close door behind her if she comes in to eat or further. ***Set a humane trap ASAP. This is the most effective way to recover an indoor-only cat. Borrow trap from Meow Cat Rescue in Kirkland 12-5 pm. tomorrow. Ideally, monitor trap & area with a webcam. Cover the top & 3 sides with a black yardwaste bag or dark sheet/towel & the bottom with a thin cloth & place in bushes near escape point. Bait it daily with finely minced sardines on tiny plate (very important NOT to leave any other food out so that she’ll be hungry enough to go in trap). Be PATIENT with trap as it can take days to a week for her to get hungry/brave enough to come out of hiding and go in it. Go out day & night & sit quietly in your yard & talk as if you’re having a QUIET phone conversation just so she hears your voice (Don’t loudly call her name, cause she’s fearful of being exposed, even by you) & shake a treat bag or open a can of food if that’s something she responds to. Listen for bushes rustling, faint cries. At night, use a strong flashlight & shine it into bushes, up trees to look for her eye reflection. Talk with as many neighbors as possible & ask if you, not they (cause they won’t search thoroughly) can check their garages, under decks, bushes, sheds, trees, crawlspaces, woodpiles, & in brambles, as she could easily be hiding/stuck somewhere. Frequently do the same around & beyond your property. If microchipped, ensure you’ve registered the chip in your name with a company, kept your contact info up to date, and notified the chip registration company she’s missing. Post sturdy photo flyers at all mailbox groupings in your neighborhood. Don’t ever give up hope or stop taking action 💞. She is very nearby. Leaving door open & setting trap are key!
