Please put up large posters with a photo of your missing pet and your phone # in the area where lost, and distribute smaller flyers with that same information in the neighborhood. A posted reward might be beneficial. Ask neighbors to check backyards, garages, and other outbuildings. Also ask them to check their security cameras for any potential sightings. Leave something outside the point of exit that has your or your pet's scent, and make sure that there is a way back in for your missing pet. Use a flashlight late at night while searching and listen carefully for any potential cries from your missing pet. Look in bushes and under parked vehicles. Please check storm drains in your area in case your pet jumped in there while being chased by a larger animal. If your pet is microchipped, please contact your microchip company to make sure that your contact information is up to date. If your pet is not microchipped, please make sure to file a missing animal report with Santa Barbara County Animal Services. Make sure to select the option to receive email updates on found pets within at least a 50 mile radius. It does happen that found pets are brought to out-of-area shelters and rescues. https://www.countyofsb.org/1426/Lost-Animals Please also post on Facebook in the Lost and Found Pets Santa Barbara County group and in local community groups on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1642012506040252/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT Post on the Nextdoor app. www.nextdoor.com Petco has a very good site, PetcoLoveLost, for reporting and searching for missing pets. https://petcolove.org/lost/ Sometimes, people will post found pets on the Neighbors by Ring security app. You do not have to possess a Ring security camera to register. https://ring.com/neighbors Occasionally, found pets will be posted on Craigslist. https://santamaria.craigslist.org/ More good advice here and sample lost posters & flyers. https://dogdayssar.com/resources Be aware of scammers. Never pay a fee.
