Black Tuxedo Cat Maxi

Message from Owner

LOST CAT โ€” MAXI ๐Ÿพ We recently moved to the neighborhood, and our 4-year-old tuxedo cat, Maxi, escaped during the move. We found her hiding in a neighborโ€™s crawlspace about six hses away and saw her coming out at night on security cameras, but we couldnโ€™t get her out. Weโ€™ve since set a humane trap nearby, but after a week weโ€™ve only caught opossums, and Maxi may have moved on. Weโ€™re especially worried because sheโ€™s an indoor cat and completely unfamiliar with the neighborhood, so she may not know how to find her way home. Please keep an eye on crawlspaces, garages, sheds, under decks, and security cameras. If you see her, please message me right away. She is wearing a collar with her name and our phone number.

She definitely hides in silence. We have plastered the neighborhood with flyers. The neighbor saw her on camera a couple days ago ๐Ÿค—

I was going to say when my little one runs away she goes in the neighbors crawl space but when the workers show up she doesnโ€™t like it. Then sheโ€™s just sleeping in my bushes. If I didnโ€™t have a dog door she would be inside with my older other cats

Check in bushes and under cars near your home, and on the next street over, especially in the evening with a flashlight, calling out to her and making a familiar sound. Ask neighbors if they might have seen her, and when they last did and which direction she headed if they have. If they have security cameras, video footage would help. Ask them if she might be trapped in their garage or shed. Check websites of your local / county animal shelters for their recent acquired cats. They often have a section you can view their photos and details. It may be good to go there in person as well. I hope she is found๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

General Information: Set up a scent station. Hang clothes with your scent on it (Worn clothing from owner) high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. NO CAT BOX OR FOOD. Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely. Beware of scammers.

You should try putting some cut up used laundry around the neighborhood leading back to your house at night and have the door / window open. We did that on day 3 and our cat came home a few hours later! We also walked around the neighborhood all night (10pm-4am) to leave scent for her

Even being new to Neighborhood - setup a scent station outside your home with unlaundered items of yours like T-shirt/Pillowcase/Shoes. Do not leave out food or litter box as can attract predators.
