I spoke with a woman who found that her cat was locked in a home that was for sale for 3 days. The real estate agent accidentally shut the door on the cat. She would not have known this unless she was going around the neighborhood and checking houses. Another person found their cat meowing late at night by calling its name. It was trapped in a neighbor's shed. Another cat was trapped in a neighbor's RV. In addition to checking during the DAY, it's good to go LATE At NIGHT (11pm onwards) so that you can hear them meowing if they are stuck somewhere. It's very important to go door-to-door (with flyers in hand) so that you can show it to your neighbors. Sending positive thoughts your way for you to find your cat! 💕🐱💕

Talk to your neighbors during the day to see if they have seen your cat. Do not rely on social media. The best way to find your cat is on foot by talking to people during the day and looking outside very LATE at night. See if your neighbors can leave their garages and sheds open for a few hours. If your cat is inside, your cat may not come out right away once the doors are opened. You can also print mini flyers and attach them to your neighbors' doors if they are not home. You can use painter's tape so that it is easy for the homeowner to remove. People don't always look at large posters so flyers work best. Offer a reward even if it's a small amount. It incentivizes people & neighborhood kids to look. Post neon signs/posters. Talk to your mail carrier. Post on Nextdoor & Neighbors by Ring App. It alerts neighbors in a 2-3 mile radius. You do not need to own a ring camera to post on Neighbors by Ring. Please make sure that your cat has a way to get back into your house 24/7. You want to leave open a garage door (including the door that goes from the garage into the house), sliding glass door, or window that they exited from as well as some of your recently worn clothing and/or shoes outside of the entry way. Your scent will attract your cat back to you. ***Do NOT put your cat's litter box outside as it can attract predators.*** It's VERY important that you look for your cat late at night. Between 11pm to 5am are ideal times to find a missing indoor only cat. 3 AM is the best time to find a cat as this is the time they become most active and responsive. Shake a bag of their favorite treats while CALMLY talking (in a normal voice) to your cat. Make sure that you pause after calling to see if you can hear your cat meowing. Use a flashlight and look for the glow of their eyes. Check up trees as well.
