💖🙏Your KITTY will remain VERY NEAR 💖🙏 Just because you don’t see or hear kitty does NOT mean kitty is not VERY near…I am emphasizing this so you don't go searching 10 blocks away or get mislead by any false sightings - without a photo to prove it’s your kitty. Continue calling kitty CALMLY in your NORMAL voice from early mornings and late night. Cats can sense stress in your voice and will hide if they sense it. Some scared cats will continue to hide and come forward when no one is around - to get to the WET food and water you leave AM + PM in bowls by kitty’s escape point. If kitty got out from the back then leave food and water by escape door left open 5” and talk to your neighbors to gain access to their yards. If kitty got out from front street and you have a garage, leave garage door open 5" with food and water just inside and kitty’s bedding way deep inside the garage - FAR AWAY FROM the food (food = predators, bedding = safety) AIM a WIFI camera at the food to receive movement notifications in case kitty comes to the food LATE NIGHT but then leaves again...then you WILL HAVE TO USE A HUMANE TRAP to trap her...rent or borrow a trap and watch youtube videos on how to successfully trap your cat🙏 🐯 Indoor cats will remain VERY NEAR TO escape point in a hiding spot in SILENCE and may come forward during the day though most come forward after dark until morning(when it’s quiet). MOST indoor cats are found within 1-5 houses away! - many times kitty is hiding within the property, under the porch, in storage area. Scared cats are the stealthiest of hiders...this Is how they survive - Be patient and continue taking action. 🐯 INDOOR/OUTDOOR cats are typically found( stuck) within a block - depending on their normal territory. Lost cat 'HUGO" was found 2 backyards away disoriented after 7 nights ...his guardian Ann was losing hope calling for him late night and early morning for a week - and on night 7 at 11pm this time he meowed back!! This is why it's important to be consistent in searching and calling for Kitty in all the different ways I mention...in person...Flyering...checking Ring cameras...placing a camera in front of food and water you in case he's stuck and gets unstuck on his own (example a shed door or garage door is opened releasing him...) Every cat is different and needs our patience and determination. 🐯And UNLESS your kitty is SUPER FRIENDLY to complete strangers, the likelihood of kitty getting picked up and brought to animal care & control is just not reality ..at least not for a long while (though check online daily and in person once a week to cover all possibilities..shy or skittish cats often have to be purposefully trapped. Happy to give you guidance on that piece… 🐯Call for your baby from the ESCAPE POINT AT NIGHT when it’s dark and quiet and sounds travel far ... call for kitty as you walk around your street (don’t go far) ...listen closely for meows in garage (if kitty got out from the front).Calmly call for kitty as you walk back the entire time - you don’t want kitty to follow you AWAY from home. 💥FLYERS WORK!!💥 Print 150-200 ASAP 🐯PRINT OUT A GOOGLE MAP OF YOUR BLOCK with the address #s showing and take notes as you go DOOR TO DOOR telling your neighbors about your missing kitty. Take notes which residences you speak to and those NOT home so you can try back later. Return to those addresses if no one is home. The neighbors that aren’t home now COULD have a laundry room or storage that they closed just before leaving town - and your kitty got closed inside! 🐯 ASK YOUR NEIGHBORS to check their RING CAMERA and if they can add a missing cat alert in your neighborhood for you! TALKING to neighbors will get them to check their garages, sheds, crawl spaces anywhere kitty could be hiding or stuck . Tell them kitty is in survival mode and scared and if they spot kitty - TAKE A PHOTO and CALL and not approach kitty. For those residences that are no home, use that blue painters tape to adhere a FLYER ( top and bottom) directly on their front door (won't damage) or folded and taped next to their mail boxes. 🐯Post up flyers all around your block and and across the street on both sides of lampposts . Place flyers inside CLEAR SHEET PROTECTORS - with the opening facing down - so the flyers don’t get ruined by weather. Buy lots of clear packing tape, blue painte’sr tape roll and 1 bright color DUCT tape in case the packing tape doesn’t stick (wet poles) If the lampposts on your block are wood and not metal, then it’s best to, buy a STAPLE GUN for the flyers you post up. 💖TONIGHT ( once It's dark & quiet) GO OUT the 'escape' door and CALL For kitty in a very calm and NORMAL voice ...keep calling gently over and over. If kitty likes the sound of crinkling a treat bag or opening a can of food then try that...call for kitty for 30 minutes straight - it’s best to sit down on the ground in one spot and continue to call calmly . Do not lose hope , take action..🙏 🐱💜Dear Guardian. Please know you can find your sweet kitty by taking action to cover ALL possibilities, whether your kitty is HIDING or STUCK nearby and needs your help to get home. #1 mistake is Waiting to take action. Glad you posted. Taking ACTION ASAP IN PERSON IS CRITICAL; Here is exactly what to do 🙏 🐱 INDOOR-ONLY CATS that are not used to being outside (or are INDOOR / OUTDOOR and get spooked by someone or something) will find the 1st place to hide and HUNKER DOWN in SILENCE. They tend to remain VERY NEAR, typically within 1-3 residences and many times right next door - HIDING. Kitty is in survival mode and meowing would give away the hiding spot to predators. Outside is strange for indoor cat, with wind & loud noises. Be patient. Don't give up! Kitty is out there. Cats that are scared and in foreign environment will often NOT meow though Kitty needs to keep hearing you (until kitty decides it’s safe to come forward..on your 40th or 400th call. 🐱 INDOOR + INDOOR/OUTDOOR cats hide/ get stuck in garages, crawl spaces, under porches, under buildings, in storage areas. Most lost cats are found within the block - though keep open to the possibility of further out if you live on a street that is mostly cement out front for example (not alot of places to hide) 💥 IMPORTANT 💥 SEARCH & CALL for kitty sweetly and calmly ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT from Sunset until SUNRISE (when it’s quiet, dark and cats feel ‘safer’ to move out of hiding) Set your alarm for 11pm 1AM, 3AM, 5AM call for kitty in your NORMAL, CALM voice...shake/crinkle the treat bag or shake kitty’s favorite noisy toy. I can’t tell you how many kitties come out of hiding during these late hours…(or you can hear meows if trapped in your next door neighbors garage or backyard for example).it’s best to sit down in 1 spot for at least 10 minutes at a time and CALL CALMLY ..be patient…scared cats are the best hiders. 🐱 LEAVE A WAY BACK INSIDE 24/7 in case kitty sneaks back inside when it’s dark and quiet. Leave the ‘escape’ DOOR/WINDOW edged OPEN 5” with wet food and water just inside. . If kitty escaped from the front (and you have a garage) leave garage door open 5" WET food (not dry) and water just inside the garage and place kitty’s BED/BEDDING on opposite side /wall closest to the entrance to your home. If no garage, leave wet food and water near escape point out of plain sight of humans walking by. (Do Not put out litter box - the scent could attract aggressive cats) 🐱Your ACTUAL neighbors on your block will NOT see these online posts. And they won't do anything if they see a cat unless they know YOUR cat is missing! This is why you must go door to door with FLYERS and post up flyers around your neighborhood on both sides of lamposts.. 💜🙏 🐱 KNOCK ON YOUR NEIGHBORS DOORS, starting with the first 10 residences in ALL directions from you. Stay organized. Take notes on a PRINTED Google map of your block - note which people you spoke to and who wasn’t home so you can remember to GO BACK later and try again until you talk to all neighbors on your block. 🐱ASK neighbors to check RING CAMERAS, Garages, sheds, storage units/areas, crawl spaces, under porches..Kitty could be trapped (this happens all the time!) and talking to your neighbors will help engage them to look for your cat! 🐱 GAIN ACCESS TO YOUR NEIGHBORS YARDS: Get permission to check backyards yards - use a flashlight to catch the reflection of kitty’s EYE in crawl spaces, As to be ALONE while you search the premises. 🐱💜 PRINT 150 FLYERS(or Mini flyers) for going door to door and POST FULL page flyers around your block 1st then expanding 2 Blocks. 💥WARNING💥 2 NEW SCAMS💥. SCAMMERS will text you saying they’re affiliated with Pawboost or an animal shelter and that they HAVE YOUR CAT and that YOU need to PROVE who you are by giving other phone numbers, your email, verifying google codes etc or to send money to get your cat from the shelter. These are all SCAMMERS! THEY WON'T Send you a PHOTO of your cat (they'll make up any excuse) OR THEY'LL SEND a PHOTO of a similar cat - but it’s not your cat! Look closely. 💥There’s a NEW SCAM I see on Facebook where the scammer will actually post on your Facebook lost cat listing (which is posted automatically from pawboost) the scammer will say something fake like ‘my husband found your cat please message me your phone number “ meaning they want you to message them from your Facebook messenger your phone number! SO SNEAKY! When I see this type of Facebook comment I check out the profile and if it looks like a NEW ACCOUNT with no friends or posts or info , I report the account to Facebook and will also CATT out the scammer on Facebook that we know they are a scammer and they should be ashamed! THE scammer will almost immediately ERASE their newly made Facebook account and delete the Facebook comment from your listing. Scammers are heartless. Please Trust that If a neighbor sees or has your cat they will give you information freely (and will post a PHOTO on your listing and not make you ‘send a code or personal information or money. Here are SCAM texts examples I’ve received -> https://drive.google.com/.../1fXZaisdpT9AAnYg38Sr.../view... 💜🐱INDOOR ONLY cats and LIMITED OUTSIDE ACCESS cats never go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. Most of them will not respond when they are in survival mode. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Try to stay low, standing is intimidating to cats. Place some dirty socks and pillow cases near the escape point. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage, (and that’s the side kitty got out) place the items just inside the garage door left cracked open 5” - just enough for kitty to get in. Also place wet food by the slightly open garage door and get a $35 MINI BLINK camera (the black one on amazon https://a.co/5NUJG5G) aimed so you can receive phone notifications of any movement, DO NOT leave the litter box outside, it can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well they are NOT as likely to be killed by a predator. Don't give up, it can take days. weeks or even months to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes, under porches, in crawl spaces. Try to look for the glow of the cat’s eyes. 💜🐱The best chance of you being reunited with your cat is to do a methodical search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 150 feet of your home. Survival mode usually lasts 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum they snap out of it but this is a dangerous time because they come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. Make flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Knock on doors / talk to neighbors ask them to check Ring cameras. It's VERY VERY important that you look for kitty as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated WIFI cameras are extremely helpful in spotting scared cats that come out to eat when no one is around. A lot of people are successful trapping their indoor only and limited access to outside cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap closely, predators can kill a cat in a trap. In a recent case, while using a baby monitor to monitor the trap from inside the home, the guardian’s cat came to the front door at 5 AM and she was heard on the baby monitor. 💜🐱If kitty is spotted on someone's RING camera or in someone's hard but NOT coming to your sweet calls THEN I'd highly recommend setting a trap at the same time kitty was spotted on camera, and waiting (the trap must be monitored ever single second while it is ‘set’ in trap mode.) 💜🐱RENT/BORROW A HUMANE TRAP - Ask Nextdoor ‘cat owner’ group or other pet groups if someone can loan your a humane trap to lure kitty with stinky wet fish based food. You can rent from your local SPCA/animal shelter though it can take a few days to access so sometimes reaching out to cat groups on nextdoor and facebook will be faster. If you live in San Francisco I am happy to loan you one of my traps. Traps WORK well to lure scared cats out of hiding before Dawn or after sunset. 💜🐱I always use a baby monitor → https://a.co/d/ikleXw0 as part of the STAKEOUT where you place stinky fish based wet cat food as bait at the far back center of the trap BEHIND the ‘trip plate’. I would suggest getting the help with someone experienced. OR watch the training videos below. They are excellent. You must monitor the trap at a close distance and/or watch the baby monitor live feed without distractions. 💜🐱Never leave an active trap unattended/unmonitored for even 10 seconds. You don’t want to trap another cat or worse, a raccoon. If you come across any stray cats coming to the food, please find out if kitty belongs to someone else by posting online ‘IS THIS YOUR CAT’ on facebook, nextdoor etc and take the cat to determine if micro-chipped. If she is an indoor only cat, or new to an area, she is hiding very nearby where she was last seen. The good news is indoor cats are always found you just need to look everywhere! Look with a flashlight even during the day. Put out dirty laundry and other familiar scents outside ASAP with food and water and bedding. Litter box if no coyotes in the area. Look under bushes, decks, porches and cars with a flashlight even during the day . Look for him anywhere she could hunker down and hide in or under. Put flyers on neighbors porches asking them to check their property throughly for anywhere she could be hiding in case she slipped out of your yard. Look inside sheds and garages too. Post on Nextdoor and file a lost report with the shelter . Hope you find your kitty soon . Just don’t stop looking everywhere . Our daughters cat slipped out of her house and hid almost two weeks until we saw her on security cameras. Every time she opened the door her cat would flee! We finally set a humane cat trap near her litter box and and monitored it from a distance with a security camera and caught her within a few hours. So leave the porch light on and put out some tuna or smelly cat food where you can monitor from a distance. If she continues to hide, set the trap in the early morning hours picking up all outside food. Do not leave food out at night. You will find her , just don’t stop looking. Hope you find your sweet kitty soon.
