Iona Pena I've owned many small pets before up to 20 guinea pigs at once and 50 hamsters they're not the exact same as a rabbit of course but I have several friends who have had rabbits and I volunteered at many animal rescue shelters in the past and it already has a cage and I already made it at home and I'm acting as if I am keeping it for the time being just so it can be comfortable but no worries I've done my research and I have a friend around who used to have a few litters of baby rabbits and my boyfriend as well has saved several stray baby rabbits so thankfully I'm in the clear I know what to feed it it has water food the right kind of bedding a cage and it's all set up. I've always had smaller animals never cats and dogs but I have done a ton of research for hours every day on my phone with several notes so not to worry our little furry friend is in good hands 🐰 The only reason there's a picture of it on the floor is because it was failing a little claustrophobic in my friend's carrier until the cage arrived so no need to worry it's not wandering around the house and it's a very sweet and cuddly bunny so even when it does come out of its cage with us it will literally sit on our laps and lay there or lay on our feet it's like a dog but we have eyes on it like a hawk for the few moments we do that thank you for taking your time to comment I appreciate it 🙏🏼

Thank You for taking it, please be carryful leaving them roaming, they have to be watched so they don't chew on wires or something dangerous. You did good by giving it Romain Lettuce, it needs a habit to live with hay which is a necessity for good health, and a water bottle. A trip to vet too. Or do some research and see what rabbit rescue is available to take it, a lot of work and knowledge is need, to help it live a good quality life. It's not like having cats or dogs.

Carrie Rosenblatt I would rather not just give him to a stranger and would like to go through a recognized organization, the only problem is I have physical ailments and I do not drive. I have a friend that can go with me to take him somewhere in the New York City area but do not have transportation beyond that. I've been doing research for the past 36 hours to find legitimate places that are no shelters so I will look at the links you sent me in the morning and if you have any other organizations you can recommend I would greatly appreciate it 🙏🏼

Chris Pelaez Yes, of course. But don't be limited to NYC. Perhaps an out-of-state or upstate rescue will offer to take in this cute bunny. I can refer you to someone reliable who transports.

Carrie Rosenblatt I already have him on Pawboost amd next-door and it has been shared for the neighborhood. I'm taking him Monday to see if he has a microchip. Do those links you included work for organizations in the five boroughs of New York City?

Thank you for taking the bunny to safety. Check for microchip. Also see if flyers are posted in the area he/she was found. Search on Pawboost and LostmyDoggie to try to find the owner, and post on those sites also that you found this companion animal. Pawboost has a high rate of success in reuniting companion animal family members. Be sure to get legitimate proof of ownership if someone claims the bunny; if any doubts, don't surrender. https://humanepro.org/magazine/articles/finding-owner-dead-end-microchip If you can't hold the rabbit till his/her guardian is found, please email 75-100+ reputable no- rescue groups from Mayor's Alliance and Chewy's lists of rescues, by copy and pasting email addresses into BCC line (email works best). At least one rescue group will offer help; that is my experience for 30 years, every time. For rabbits, there is House Rabbit Society and Bunnies & Beyond; also Sean Casey Animal Rescue and Empty Cages Collective take in rabbits. https://www.animalalliancenyc.org/need-help/surrender/ https://www.chewy.com/g/animal-shelters-and-rescues No need to bring found animals to the city shelter, which euthanizes, due to overpopulation and abandonment crisis. It is very dangerous offering an animal on the Worldwide web. There are those who search for such ads especially when people sound desperate and when offered for free to use as bait in dogfighting; torture as revenge or sadistic pleasure; to sell them for drugs, breed them to sell kits; neglect, abuse, etc. https://www.peta.org/issues/animal-companion-issues/animal-companion-factsheets/dangers-free-good-home-ads/
