Message from Owner

Please can you help me find my sweet and loved Charlie Newman?! We are beside ourselves with grief. He may have been spooked by coyotes that have recently been in the area. Please listen or look in your barns, garages and around your homes for him or for his cry. Reward offered!

Knock on neighbours doors and put out flyers everywhere. Do offer rewards. Also go out in the night. You can hear him better then. Check the pounds too. Airtags on collars help greatly.

Have you looked with a flashlight, late at night. Cats are nocturnal and stay close to home. One woman sat by the window her cat escaped from. She was holding her flashlight. She got him back last night. He ran right to her. Look under porches, sheds, in crawl spaces and under bushes. Call softly so as to not overwhelm him. Your cat is scared and hiding.

You can post to Lost and Found Pets of Salem Oregon at: https://www.facebook.com/share/1K94NUUiTV/ Put up fliers right away. Put your pet's bed and a piece of your clothing from the dirty laundry where you last saw him/her so if your pet comes back they will smell it and stick around. You could also leave food and drink. When you get your pet back, you might want to consider getting an Apple Airtag to put on its collar so you can immediately see where they are. I got one from Amazon for my cat and it tracks her anywhere she goes. When it gets dark, take a flashlight around the area where you live and call them repeatedly, look in trees, bushes, under porches and decks, and alert the neighbors. If they like treats, take the treat can and shake it. After our cat went missing for 2 days, we found her in a tree at our neighbor's house. Big dogs were in the yard so she couldn't get down. Indoor cats usually stay within 3 to 5 houses around you.

General Information: Set up a scent station. Hang clothes with your scent on it (Worn clothing from owner) high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. NO CAT BOX OR FOOD. Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely. Beware of scammers.

Is he usually let outside? Even with coyotes in the area? Or are you saying he is usually inside but has been scared so may have escaped?
