He may be stuck or hiding somewhere close. Another cat or dog might have chased him up high in a tree and he might not be able to get down. Search at night with a flashlight because his eyes will glow. In addition to trees check inside and under things like sheds, garages and crawl spaces. Ask neighbors to also check. Keep your garage door up enough to allow entry and put fresh bowls of water out. Put up missing cat posters, post on all the local social media groups as check with animal control frequently. Put something with his scent on the porch such as a cat bed or scratching post.
