Marie Wong No. The vet will check for tattoo and microchip and try to reunite with the cat's humans. If unsuccessful, the cat will go to Calgary Animal Services which will also try to reunite, and will advertise. Most people know to check CAS, but there are many shelters, most full, and people DO NOT know about all of them. Further, most of the shelters are underfunded, and have enough expenses already, and not enough volunteers. If the cat isn't reunited at CAS, it will then be sent to a shelter (that has the contract with the city) that will rehome the cat. Maybe try volunteering at a rescue ...
