Pam Bee, if Ziggy is not familiar with the outdoors he should attempt to return on his own overnight if the conditions are just right. Don't worry that he hasn't come when called -- in unfamiliar environments, cats become so frightened their survival instinct instructs them to hide from everyone, even their own family. This is what I suggest: IMMEDIATELY (if you see this comment overnight) or AT DUSK crack open the garage door and set the opener (if you have one) to close with the next press (you may have to close him inside). If you cannot see into the garage from indoors, you may need to crack the door leading inside open also. In that case, don't put food in the garage -- only a familiar blanket on the doorstep leading inside -- and put food well into the adjoining room or at Ziggy's regular spot. If you can see into the garage from inside, place the food at the door leading inside. Call him softly from the garage to provide a familiar sound and direction, then watch and listen closely from inside (DO NOT GO BACK OUTSIDE OVERNIGHT!) and if you see Ziggy approach and settle on the food (in the garage or inside)be very careful not to startle him as you slowly and quietly provide a clear path back inside or close the door behind him. If you can't wait up set an alarm and watch again just before sunrise -- it's a popular time to return. Please let me know what happens tonight and if he's not back by morning, I'll provide more detailed instructions. Oh, and if Ziggy fails to return overnight, DURING THE DAYTIME, alert nearby neighbors in case he is hiding just beyond your property (under a vehicle, in a garage, shed, or carport, etc.), then, if there’s time before dark and you can search SILENTLY without dislodging him from his hiding spot, focus your efforts close to home and tiptoe around using a flashlight, but be quiet and discreet so as not to frighten him (shhh! DO NOT CALL or shake treats), check every crack and crevice, look in, under and around sheds, vehicles, furniture, under foundations and porches, into trees etc. but suspend searching when it gets dark to give him the chance to return voluntarily. Please let me know how it goes. I'm hopeful for some good news.

Go around late at night calling them with food and flashlight to catch their eyes. Check around your neighborhood under houses and in small places where they may hide. Put stuff out that has yours and their scent on it. Mainly their litter box and sprinkle their used litter around the yard as they'll recognize the smell and it'll deter other animals from coming around. Hang flyers around for people to see. Check shelters and vets daily. Update chip info if they have a chip and its has not been update since a move. Ask neighbors to check in their garages incase they ended up trapped in one and to check their cameras in case they appeared on them to get a sense of direction they could be. I pray you get your baby back safe and soon.

Diana Ellis he went into the garage without me knowing. A little bit later I opened the garage door so Walmart could put my delivery in there. That night, in the middle of the night, I realized he wasn't on the bed sleeping. He is a big mama's boy. He comes up to me throughout the day and rubs on me. Sleeps in the bed all stretched out with his belly in the air. I have given neighbors his picture flyer. Looked in the middle of the night calling for him. I asked him, "Ziggy wanna get a brush"? He loves being brushed. Anytime he was close to me & I would ask him that, he would come to me. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks. At times I believe someone has him.
