Pam Bee I'm so sorry..my heart breaks for you and all you're going through. If I lived closer I'd be out looking for you while you heal. I had a cat come home after months of being lost and it was quite a distance we moved to another house! I have no idea to this day how our family cat traveled so far, safely, and home. Cats are VERY smart! They are truly amazing Pam! I am keeping you and your fur baby in continuous prayers daily. We can hold onto hope and faith and pray God guides your baby home. You did your best alerting neighbors with Ring cameras and bringing them food for him he will be familiar with. Now, please rest your left foot, elevate, ice it on and off and take good care of yourself..leave the rest to God. If I can help or you just need an ear..I'll be my very best to help! I do check my messages as much as possible, I recently had back surgery so I've not been on FB as much but DM me if you need me..I'll check more often. Rest my friend..prayers are all we can do right now but please don't lose faith! Sending comforting hugs your way!!

Pam Bee, I believe you said on your other post that Ziggy is unfamiliar with the territory in which he's lost -- is that so? Most escaped cats will come back on their own if you know just what to do. Some have returned even after a month, although when time passes most will attempt to find a safe and consistent source of food if it's not offered at home. Do you have any neighbors who feed cats outside or is there a colony in the area? Ziggy should only have gone as far as necessary to find food (he'll likely emerge at night to seek it out). Have you asked neighbors if they've seen him on security cameras at night? I doubt Ziggy is exploring -- if he's not well acquainted with the outdoors he's likely hiding during the daytime and foraging at night. Your objective now will be to identify a place where Ziggy feels comfortable emerging at night for food -- whether at home or elsewhere. It's important that everyone in the area knows he's lost and if any neighbors suspects seeing him, bring food and ask them t set it out in a safe and discreet place near where he was seen (in view of a camera, if possible). Once a feeding location is established, Ziggy can be trapped, if necessary. Keep in mind h may still be close enough to home for you to lure him back. You could try this: BEGINNING TONIGHT refresh the inconspicuous but familiar item outside (blanket or worn clothing laid flat on the doorstep — NOT a litter box or anything obvious) to give Ziggy the confidence to come out of hiding, and place tempting food at his point of escape and in various safe and quiet locations at dusk (choose places where Ziggy will feel comfortable eating -- close to a foundation, under shrubs, inside a porch, shed or garage with the door cracked open, etc. — a frightened cat is more concerned with safety than food). Ziggy's instinct will be to come out after dark to eat and once you know where you can get him back inside. Diana, which strategy were you talking about? I waited to late, but hired a thermal drone pilot when he had been missing for almost 3 weeks. He looked for 2 hours. We saw 3 tabby cats, around different locations & 2 orange cats. Plus some bunnies & a raccoon!! He told me he believed Ziggy was around because we spotted 6 cats total. He believes that when cats get out they are on an adventure looking for different things & exploring!? I'm not sure if I believe that...but who am I to say.

Kathie Chambers thank you. I'm still hoping he'll make it back. My neighbor across the street texted me & said as his family was coming back home, a lighter colored cat had run across the road down at the end of my street & the other street. I have gone down there twice in the middle of the night. Calling & looking for him. Plus I went to 3 of the neighbors around where he was spotted & gave them a picture & some food. I asked them if they would put the food out where they could see from their Ring cameras. I have yet to be able to go down & talk to them because I broke 3 bones in my left foot again & have been told to stay off of it.!! Sure....try getting around with one foot! Gives meaning to those that have lost a leg!! (Prayers to them all) This coming Sat. October 17th will be 8 weeks. For some reason I still have a sense he's coming home!! I pray I'm right!😊😇

Pam Bee, I asked on your other post what happened when you tried the strategy I shared, but I didn't hear back from you. It's important to know if something has kept Ziggy from returning because removing those impediments could result in a reunion. It may be time now, however, to implement a more comprehensive strategy. Do you know if any neighbors feed cats outside or if there may be a colony nearby where stray cats are fed? Have you looked at a satellite view of your home in relation to the sighting and to see if Ziggy may have taken a path to a hiding spot that is not obvious at ground level?

Pam Bee, if you attempted the strategy I shared and Ziggy failed to return, did you observe anything that may suggest why (stray cats, critters, or people outside after dark, noise or commotion, objects set in his path, etc.)? If you describe what happened overnight I can suggest what to do next. You may still be in the window of opportunity for Ziggy to come back on his own so something must be keeping him in hiding. If we can figure out what it is, you may have success with this technique before having to try something more complicated.
