Why nearby neighbors matter more than large Facebook groups in the first couple of days. An example of how it works: Let's say there's a Facebook group for Surprise AZ with 24,000 people in it. It's a decent sized city. Approximately 11 miles north to south. 8 to 10 miles east to west. Covering approximately 110 square miles. Posting on a Facebook group with 24,000 members may sound like a massive search team. However, most of those people are too spread out and will never even see the pet in real life. Approximately 50% of people like dogs or would be helpful if they see the dog. The remaining 50% are a mix of people who are: Indifferent Don't notice dogs Don't feel comfortable around unfamiliar dogs Are too busy, or Simply aren't interested in helping. A loose small dog can travel an estimated 3–5 miles in a day A large dog can travel 5 to 10+ miles a day. But in this heat they are not traveling that far. Likely within a mile or two. Of course in this heat the first hours are critical!! A dog that is loose may still be within a manageable area, but every day that passes, increases the distance it travels and the number of possibilities move from manageable to endless. This is why the goal is NOT Shares, or views because there is no way you will reach everyone with your post in your city. Definitely not going to get everyone looking for your pet. Your goal is to get as many people as possible within that 1–3 mile radius of the last known location, ACTIVELY paying attention. Typically the TOP and MOST EFFECTIVE way to do that is with the neighborhood apps. And the Facebook groups for your subdivision. In heavy spanish-speaking neighborhoods flyers are typically the lead way to go as well as Spanish language groups for your neighborhood. Offering a reward definitely grabs attention so if you're in a hurry you definitely want to add one for the most attention. Right now in the heat, most people need the extra inspiration to check their cameras and look outside.

2 types of Lost Pet Flyers 1st type: Community-Oriented Flyer (No Reward) ✅ These matter to: Neighbors that would be willing to help, and have the time. Likely about 20 to 30% or less of your neighborhood. In extreme heat it's much less. ✅ Goal: To make the neighborhood aware that your dog is missing. ✅ Effective design: “LOST DOG” or “FOUND DOG” large and bold Clear photo Date & location Contact info ✅ Works because: The target audience likes animals and has a neighborly mindset to help others. 2ND TYPE: Bounty/Reward Flyer (With AMOUNT!) ✅ These matter to: finders/keepers/thieves ✅ Goal: Motivate those who are in it for themselves to give the pet back. ✅ Effective design: "$2-500 REWARD with the amount as the biggest text NOT LOST DOG NOT HAVE YOU SEEN ME Pet photo Large contact info ✅ Works because: It speaks to their greed. What's in it for them. It's easier to return the pet to the owner for cash, than to sell it on the street. They do not care that you are sad. Do not care about doing the right thing. This flyer needs to be very simple. Reward $200 Phone number ONE BIG picture of the pet They need to be able to read it from 20 ft away. Do not put lost dog, missing dog. Have you seen me? Do not share how much you miss your dog. The background story. None of that. These things take up too much space and a thief doesn't care how much you miss your pet.

THE PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND PEOPLE WHO KEEP YOUR PET: PROFILE 1: (Finder-Keeper) Psychology: These are people who convince themselves they’re doing the right thing by keeping a found pet.🫩 Often believe “If it's free it's for me”, finders keepers or that they’re a better owner. They often call it ”rescuing a puppy,” especially if your dog looked scared, dirty, or was outside alone. These types are motivated by emotional attachment: “My kids love this dog now.” Hero syndrome: “I saved it.” Avoiding hassle: “I don’t want to take it to animal control.” Fear losing something they now like. What for the best tactics that work on them: Reward with the amount “No questions asked” reward Remind them that pets are considered property under Arizona State law. It's actually a crime to find and keep someone's pet when you can clearly see they are looking for it. It's considered theft of property and they could face charges if they don't do the right thing Remind them to be a hero and do the right thing by returning the pet. Make it easy to meet up, get the reward, return the pet. No questions asked. 🐾

Major error: for some reason PB only asks for one street and a zip code. A zip code can be miles long which is not helpful for finding a pet. For best results you want to focus on the actual major intersection by your house. If owner's out quickly their dog is usually within a mile of the house. You want others that are helping you to be focused on that area as well. Dogs are dropping like flies within 30 minutes to an hour in this heat and can get hit within 5 minutes of getting out so owners really can't afford to lose time by not having clear info. I really hope you find your pet quickly and safely. ♥️

OWNERS ~ HOW TO QUICKLY FIND YOUR PET! 1. To find your pet you need to make a good text ad. Write it up and save it somewhere. Ask friends and family to please share the same thing. People need to see something in average of 7 times before they read the whole thing Decide to get involved AND take action! 2. Post 3 x a day on next door and neighbors by ring. 3. DO NOT FORGET: Most people don't do this but it's one of the most important tactics I use to help an owner get their pet home quickly. If it's used early on we usually get 8-9/10 dogs back so it's extremely effective. 💪 After your post goes live, 📍comment on it a couple times to kick off the algorithms. 📍Then add a screenshot of the map / area where your pet is lost in the comments to boost your post. 📍Add 2-4 additional pictures of your pet also to boost your post. That should be 3-6 comments to get it going. 4. Stay paying attn to the comment section! Do not just post and go! Comment, respond to people, like their comments. Don't fall for scammers. 5. Focus on the neighborhood apps!! These are the people most likely to see your pet. 📌NBR covers approximately 8 mi north south east and west of you. It's a big circle. YOUR PET IS MOST LIKELY WITHIN THAT VICINITY. 📌 Next door only covers 2.5-4 mi around you. But more people are on that so that's why you should be on both. 😉

Again I'm going to tell you what I would want someone to tell me every time a bully goes missing it's pretty much never seen again. You've got to get money on your post. It should be the first thing like an attention grabbing headline just like the media uses to get people to pay attention. After that comes the major intersection and city. Then you put the info on the dog and your story about how much you miss your pet etc. the first thing you want people to see is Where's it at What's in it for me Do I care? You want to make them care. If your dog has been taken that person likely won't come forward but maybe the neighbors will for the reward.

If your pet is friendly there's a good chance someone took it into their home. Hopefully it's a good person that posts looking for you. Unfortunately we have an extremely high rate of people that think finders keepers, if it's free it's for me. When they do this they think they are rescuing a puppy so they keep it. Once owners get Flyers up these types will drive right past them and sleep well at night while they steal your dog. Hopefully a good person found your dog and they are posting looking for you. If your dog is skittish and will not let anyone approach, then you have your work cut out for you because you're going to have to post on the two neighborhood apps and get Flyers up immediately and look for leads and sightings. Then you're going to have to get over there since no one else will be able to contain your pet for you. I hope you find your doggy quickly and safely. ♥️
