Update: There was a citing in Lakeview Park off Farrington Drive! Still can’t find her, but please be vigilant in the area!

Leave an open access like an attached garage cracked about 8 inches 24/7. If the cat is left alone they will attempt to get back in when it’s dark, especially early am.

When it gets dark keep lights outside low and sit down outside the door. Soft familiar calls. Walking around can keep them in hiding. She’s not far and will want to come back when she feels safe. Key is to lure and make her feel safe to come out of hiding.

Please file a missing cat report with Virginia Beach animal control. If the cat is chipped, make sure the registry has your current contact information. Check the shelter several times a week Tonight after 10 PM go out in your yard with a flashlight and a bag of kitty treats, walk around quietly, calling your cats name. Look at the bushes to see if your cat is hiding with the flashlight. Indoor cats rarely stray more than 5 to 7 homes from their own. Print flyers with your cats picture and your contact information and take around to your neighbors asking them if they’ve seen your cat and to call you if they do. Also ask them if they’ve been in their garage, shed or outbuilding since your cat has been missing. Cats go on those structures to feel safe and then when the owner close the door they cannot get out. You cannot hear cat crying to get out of a structure unless you’re standing right next to it. Look under porches, decks, and any structure with an open crawlspace
