Hello, My cat got out this morning and was last seen around 10ish in the alley behind main road under a tilted roof. We tried to get him but he ended up bolting into the woods behind there. We have not seen or heard him since. I bought a trap and put it out around noon and have been checking all day. We went out with flashlights. He is super friendly but is very scared right now. He was a rescue 6 years ago. We believe he was an outdoor cat before we adopted him but any other time he got out he stayed super close. Put something outside that has a heavy sent of his hoomans, tshirt, socks, dirty laundry..and something that has his heavy scent on it, blanket, tower, bed, etc. I don't recommend the litter box outside bc it attracts strays and the occasional skunk that might scare him off. Prayers for his safe return 🐾💕🙏

Lost house cats usually do not go far. Look in,under, on top of all structures/trees in the near vicinity. Have a flashlight with you as his/her eyes will reflect in the dark. If you do see him/her, no sudden movements. Have some treats or his/her food with you. Also, if you can leave a door or window slightly open, he/she may come back in their own. Keep an ear to the outside after dark. Many kitties come back after dark and meow to be let back in. Leave a piece of clothing with your scent near the open space that is helpful.Have neighbors look in garages, sheds and other structures. Also if you did not see him/her get out or know for sure she/he did, check every inch of your house, she/he could be trapped or hiding somewhere. Good Luck!!

🐾if your not sure that he got out , crack a can of catfood and tap it and walk around the house tapping. Some cats have been getting stuck in attics and crawl spaces when people are pulling out decorations- if he did get out Put dirty laundry out, go out shake treats, crack a can of catfood and tap it. Look at night with flashlight because their eyes glow. Check in sheds and under porches, decks ect. Talk to neighbors too, make sure they check their shelters . Might have to set a hav-a heart trap if he's that skittish. Might only come out at night. Sometimes if you leave part of your garage open they will sneak back in. Not sure if that's possible or if you have other animals. I've heard where the cat jumps back in a window. Flyers help too, someone may have taken him in or seen him. Let your post office delivery person know too in case they hear of someone or see him on the local route- check with neighbors, someone may have brought him in. It's a good idea to hang a sign from your mailbox "LOST CaT" in case they are looking for an owner. You can buy a cheap TASCo game camera at Walmart $29 with an SD card and set it up to see if you catch him near by. It surprisingly takes good pictures and is easy to set up- definitely do the dirty laundry and definitely do the tapping of the cat food can. These things really do help🐾🐾🐾don't lose hope. I've had strays remain elusive for over a year before they learn to trust again. They go into survival mode. Be vigilant about flyers, ask neighbors. Sometimes the cat is hanging out at a neighbors close by ***also check with PAW BOOST and Next door and RING
