Description

2-year-old neutered male gray tabby with short gray fur and darker tabby stripes. Microchipped. Slender build with long legs, large yellow-green eyes, and a pinkish-brown nose. Indoor-only cat who is very shy, cautious, and easily frightened. He is likely hiding and may not come when called or approach strangers. Please do not chase him. If you see him, please take a photo if possible and contact us immediately with the exact location and time.

Spooky is super friendly cat. Please help us bring our baby home. Spooky is deeply loved and has never been an outdoor cat, so he is likely scared, hiding, and may not come when called. He may be under cars, bushes, porches, or in garages and sheds. If you think you’ve seen him, please don’t chase him, it could scare him further. Instead, take a photo if possible and contact us immediately with the location and time. We miss him terribly and just want him home safely. Thank you so much for keeping an eye out.

Try putting something of yours outdoors, it might help your cat find their way home. A blanket, or an article of clothing. Do not put a litter box outdoors it can attract predators. Try going out after dark with a flashlight and a bag of treats. More than likely, the cat is scared and afraid

Time is of the essence. Cats don’t go far from home. Don’t wait for social media to bring your cat home, you need to be proactive. Leave the door/window the kitty exited from open 24/7. If unable, then crack garage door open 24/7 enough to get in. Hang worn clothes and/or your pillow case in a tree or on top of shrubs to create a scent trail. Knock on neighbors doors with a picture asking them to keep an eye out. See if they can check Ring cameras for any sighting. Post signs with kitty’s picture as many as possible, include surrounding neighborhoods. Go out late at night with a flashlight, shaking a bag of food, calling kitty’s name, looking under shrubs for their shining eyes. Post on Ring, Nextdoor and check shelters. Don’t give up. 💕

Indoor only cats and limited outdoor access catqqs never go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. They will not always respond to you, most don’t. 3 AM is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Place some dirty socks and pillow cases outside. Your scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage place the items near the garage door and crack the door enough for her to get in. DO NOT leave food or litter box outside, it can attract predators and aggressive Tom cats. Because indoor only cats hide so well they are not as likely to be killed by a predator. Don't give up, it can take weeks to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes. Try to look for the glow of his eyes. Survival mode last 5 to 14 days. Once their hunger gets to a maximum they snap out of it but this is a dangerous time because they come out of hiding. Make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Most people don't pay attention to posted flyers. It's VERY VERY important that you look for her as late at night as you can. If you have other cats, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful.
