Is your dog wearing a collar with a phone number on it? Is your dog microchipped? Check all area shelters in person. Post on For the Love of Louie *Michigan Lost Pet Lookers*, Nextdoor, and any local neighborhood Southfield Facebook groups. Get signs up all over the area where your dog went missing. The signs can be simple and say something like, "missing small tan dog with little hair" and your phone number. It is critical that your phone number be on all posts and all signs so that people can contact you if they see your dog. Beware that you may get some scam calls/text messages. If anyone calls you claiming to have your dog, but will not tell you where, that is a scam. Physically go out looking for your dog . Walk around and drive around.

You should put out some of his food, some of his blankets, toys and anything that has his scent on it. Also set out some clothing that has your family’s scent on it as well. It may help him find his way back home Also, go out at night w/ a flashlight and shine it around. Dogs eyes glow at night, shine it around in the woods by your house, in any garages or sheds, under any decks / porches & under cars etc

All the above advice + Make sure you go to the shelters, animal control, humane societies & every rescue you can think of in person and check for your dog or cat as often as you can. Don’t rely on just calling to check for them. The shelters are understaffed and overwhelmed; they may not recognize your dog or cat from a description over the phone. Also, put up flers & post on Love of ouie, Pawboost next door, Ring App, etc., etc
