TIPS TO HELP FIND YOUR LOST DOG:
Place his/her bedding, a piece of your unwashed clothing, bedding or even your worn socks, and a bowl of water (no food) on a tree or fence he/she may be able to pick up the scent and find his/her way home.
Walk around the area calling to your dog and shaking a bag/box of treats or squeezing a favorite squeaky toy.
If he/she is microchipped contact the microchip company to report him/her lost and update your contact information. Hang flyers (use a bright color board or paper) with your dog's picture in your neighborhood, surrounding areas, local shopping centers, businesses, vet's offices, groomers, etc. within a five mile radius from your home.
Leave your information with all local businesses near where your dog went missing!!
Go door to door with the flyers as well and try to speak with people when handing out flyers. Talk to the mailman and UPS/FedEx/delivery drivers! They see a lot!
Make a sign with his/her picture and put it in your front yard stating he/she is missing.
File a lost report with the shelters in your area and surrjounding area shelters (you can usually do it online)
Check with the local homeless population.
Check shelters in person, daily if possible. Ask to see dogs in isolation too. Check shelter websites as well.
Check shelter found reports for dogs found but not at the shelter. Take a flyer to the shelters.
