Rick Micheletti my issue is with your statement “ if you trap the wrong cat …” which is bad advise and indicates that the trap IS NOT being continually monitored.

Melody Carter if you say so. Sorry but you got false information. Like I said, I know the women personally who do trap and release programs for Rescue Warriors and Whiskers World and they are out trapping cats quite often. They trap feral cats, have them fixed, and then release them where they were found. They have been doing this for years and know how to trap cats. Whether it's the feral cats or someone's pet, they know what they're doing and I have borrowed traps from them in the past to catch my cat when it got out. They also help trap lost pets. Please check with these organizations. I don't care what the executive director of Edmonton said. They obviously never went out and trapped cats at night like the women do that I know.

Rick Micheletti yes, I am serious. I was personally asked by the Executive Director of the Edmonton SPCA to trap cats, so I know the proper protocol.

Rick Micheletti if the traps were constantly monitored then only the targeted animal would be allowed to enter and the others would have been shewed away. So the claim that the trap is monitored is false.

Melody Carter I'm sorry you feel that way but that's what rescue Warriors and Whiskers World would do. They set traps and monitor the traps.

Rick Micheletti not a good plan as cats that are released will then be wary of going into a trap if they need to be trapped in the future. Also traps need to be monitored at all times and shouldn’t just be set and left unattended. A litter of kittens will follow each other into a trap and the first one in will activate the trap and a kitten at the entry way will be crushed by the door slamming down on it.

Rent or borrow a humane trap. The SPCA and other animal shelters rent them out for $100. When you return the trap you get your $100 back. Place the trap near where the cat escaped. Put some of the cat's favorite food and treats inside of the trap along with an article of your clothing with your scent on it. This method worked for me on two different occasions. If you trap the wrong cat or some other animal, put a blanket over the trap leaving the door exposed. Stand behind the trap and release the animal. Reset the trap. Time is of the essence so do this asap. Good luck and God bless.
