Karen O'Mara Please stop sharing this info that says put the litter box out. It’s a Dangerous Myth. ONLY put out personal, unwashed items belonging to cat, owners and items of other pets in the house Do NOT put out the litter box. Putting the litter box outside is NOT recommended. ONLY put out unwashed items of cat and owners like clothing and bedding, things that smell like home. Cats instinctively bury their waste to keep predators away. By putting the litter box out you are attracting predators and aggressive strays keeping your cat hiding and possibly running further away from the area. I told this to one woman who confirmed that she saw stray cats using Her cat’s litter box claiming it as theirs and marking territory. It made her cat leave the area. Luckily someone saw her cat blocks away at an abandoned house and there were NEON Posters at intersections with info that I put up for owner. Coyote hunters actually put out used cat litter to lure in coyotes. Never give up cats have been found months and even years later but you have to be proactive 🙏🏻❤️

Debbie Vallimont so true. Our little girl was gone for a week. Slipped out during a rain storm. She was found in a neighbor's garage cabinet. Thankfully, she survived ❤️

Keep calling for her every night. They hide during the day. I walked my road every night calling her back to the house. Then would go out ever hour or so calling for her. I left my back door cracked open and she popped her head in after being lost for 8 nights. She has never stepped a paw outside since.

I can’t stress enough asking neighbors if YOU can look in their sheds/garages. Just in one week alone 3 different people found their cat a couple doors down, one was in a shed the other was under the shed. The other was sitting by a neighbors shed luckily the owner looked again in the same places she looked before. Another woman’s cat was missing for 5 weeks and she heard a cat crying when she went out looking because she never gave up. It was a couple doors down in a neighbors shed. That neighbor looked himself and had been in and out of the shed doing yard work. It took 2 hours for the woman to get her cat out. She had to crawl up and get him. He was so scared. He was skinny but alive. I’m guessing he came and went possibly eating and drinking somewhere and running back in. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this. Also cats can squeeze into the smallest of holes. They don’t act themselves when they get out. ALSO, do NOT put out the litter box, that’s a dangerous myth. Cats instinctively bury their waste to keep predators away. By putting the litter box out you are attracting predators and aggressive strays keeping your cat hiding and possibly running further away from the area.

The best time to look for a cat is late at night after the daytime sounds settle down. Go for a walk and take a flashlite scan into the trees and under bushes. A cat can fit in any hole that they can fit their head thru they have collapsible shoulder blades. Most indoor cats stay close to home but come out at night. Most important is to make your presence known. Go out every half hour after 9pm and call for them and stop and listen it's amazing what you can hear late at night. Get your voice and scent out there. They are looking for you also. Look for glowing eyes at night. If there is a dog sibling that the cat likes take the dog on the walk. If you open canned cat food or shake treats do so on your walk. If the cat has a noisy toy shake it on your walk. Make posters and put in every business within a mile of the home. Let your mail carrier know. If there are teenagers in the neighborhood let them know they love reward money and being a hero. Check all local shelters. Let local veterinarians know your info. If there is a feral colony near you check it out. If you can find the feeder of the colony give them your info. Make large signs and put in neighbors yards at least a mile radius of the home. This ensures that everyone in the area has the info. Put post it notes on your neighbors doors to look in sheds and garages. Post on every Facebook forum in your area. Post on Pawboost and For the love of Louie. Check Humane Society. So important to make your presence known every half hour after 9pm. Make a bed out of the cats carrier and put soiled clothes from inside the home around the bed. Put it as close to the house as you can. Leave a shed or garage open check them often. Camp in your yard. Most indoor cats are found late at night. Don't give up. Do not put food out or litter it attracts every animal in the area including raccoon opossum feral cats and coyotes. Your cat will know that there is food inside and that is incentive to keep them close to the house. If you are outside that's OK but take it in when you go back in. If your cat sees a predator eating their food it might make them retreat further. Most important is to let them know you are looking for them. Hope you find your baby
