Please help us find our baby who is only a year old. She is microchipped. She was wearing a red collar but tends to lose her collars. Her mommies and sister miss her very much and just want her .

Searching for missing cats is not a one size fits all approach. Go online onto https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/ which gives excellent guidance on how and where to look for missing cats depending on the circumstances - look under the tab ‘Lost Cat Behavior’. Missing cats behave very differently to those safe at home. Strong likelihood that kitty is still in the near vicinity, but in hiding silently or in a place from where he can’t get out. You have to search vigorously in neighbour’s gardens, under decks, in sheds on and garages, up trees, down storm drains. Kitty might not respond to calling (because they go silent when fearful), but persevere and look properly. Best to search late at night and early morning. Take food with and rattle them the container, calling as you usually would. Listen carefully and use a torch - cat eyes shine in torchlight. Put out dirty laundry overnight - leave for a couple days, so cat can smell the scent of home and hopefully find it’s way back. Also contact a reputable communicator - Aly from Endless Pawsibilities is excellent, as is Cherece from Gaea’s Gift (they can work together very successfully as well). Be aware that phoning or sending an email or WhatsApp to SPCAs will not help, even if you include photos - they do not have the time or capacity to keep checking every missing animal message that comes in because they receive so many of these every single day. You have to go personally to check. If not too long has passed since kitty went missing, you can also try Healthy Hound or Missing Pet Solutions which use specially trained dogs to track missing animals.
