Message from Owner

Hello, I am looking for my beloved cat Spooky. He has been missing since June 22, 2026, and I have made reports to Lake County Animal Control, the Buffalo Grove Police, and have marked him as missing on Petco LoveLost ever since he went missing. For a week until I (the writer of this post) had to leave for vacay on July 1, he was spotted in my neighborhood with neighbors calling me about sightings. Since then, my parents and I have not heard any updates about him. I have been searching frantically for him, and have not heard of this resource before, hence this post being made later. I want to give it a shot and I hope that I can bring him back home. He was a gift to me from my partner after one of my late cats past, and black cats have a special place in my heart since my first cat was one. He is microchipped and neutered, with the last four digits of his chip being 5913. Please leave a comment or send a private message to my Facebook (Rachel Carrera Betz, I left a comment on the post as well) for any details.

Try Going out late at night ie midnight and again early am ie 5 or 6 am with their smelly food and treats. Shake treat bag and call out their name. Take a flashlight and check under porches and bushes. Also if you can leave a basement window and garage door open so they can get in. Do for multiple days if needed. Good luck.

He is just beautiful. He is still probably very close to home. Look for him in the early morning hours and late at night when it is quiet outside. Alert the microchip company. Maybe you can rent a trap from a kitty rescue. Do you have cameras to spot him near your home? I hope that you will be reunited very soon. 🙏🐈🏡

** Time is of the essence, for finding your lost cat. ** Your cat is probably nearby. Indoor cats usually find a hiding spot very quickly, and very close to where they escaped. Look up in the trees, and check under everything in YOUR YARD first… under decks, bushes, wood piles and sheds. Then check your neighbors yards. The best time to find your cat is at night, with a flashlight, when their eyes glow back at you. ***If your cat is scared, it will not respond to you calling him/her, so you'll have to use your eyes instead of your ears. *** ***When inside cats are suddenly outside, they can go into "survival mode,” and their entire personality changes.*** They, generally, will NOT wander. At least, not at first. (Unless they are not neutered/spayed.) Make sure to leave food and fresh water outside, in case they come out of hiding at night. Canned tuna (packed in oil) is nice and smelly. Also, a piece of your "worn" clothing, with your scent on it left outside, along with their bedding, with their scent on it, will definitely help. And, if you have a container or bag of treats that they really like.. shake it outside for your cat to hear. Also, leave your garage door or a window open a few inches in case it comes back at night. (5-7 inches.) [A special consideration in the cold weather, is to please CHECK UNDER THE HOOD of your vehicle! Oftentimes, a cat, especially an indoor only one, will seek out shelter or warmth in the engine area of your car. Do not start your vehicle, until you’ve checked! It is oftentimes fatal to your feline!] Hoping you find your cat very soon! ♥️ MS🐈

Michele Grisco Thank you for the advice 🖤 We did that when he first went missing and we have been throwing food out for him every night since he went missing. He's tricky to catch. The last time we spotted him (which was at the end of June), he was walking around the neighborhood like no big deal. Hope we can catch him soon, he does know his name and looked when neighbors tried to call for him.

I am the owner of Spooky, my phone number got cut off from the post. I have since edited it to ask if comments could also be left on this post or for individuals to private message me, though I am unsure if the post will update. I can 100% prove he is my cat! Thank you so very much for your attention 🖤🐈‍⬛
