Message from Owner

Our sweet Carl was traveling with us and got out of our camper. He came back last night in the middle of the night but was spooked when we tried to get him. He is our baby and we will be leaving Colorado at the end of the week, we’re praying he comes home to us.

Create a scent station (items with your/your cat’s smell - unwashed bedding, clothing, cat tower, etc. Especially important if cat is in new/unfamiliar area. Do NOT put out litter pan as feces often used to mark territory and may inadvertently attract predators or territorial cats.). Check it often, especially when things are quiet (late evening/early morning). Leave the garage door open 5” overnight. Check nearby Ring/security cameras in the area. Check in and under everything inside and outside with a flashlight. Cats don’t usually go far and freeze in a tight ball in very small, tight, dark areas when scared. The flashlight catches their eyes’ stare, especially at night. Thoroughly check inside your home, especially if this is a new/shy/scared pet. Post on NextDoor app as it covers your local neighborhoods. Be sure to check your local animal shelter in person at least every other day (can’t stress enough - in person!!! You know your pet best plus animals constantly brought in). If your cat is not spayed/neutered, may be why it is “lost” and traveling further. Hope your pet is home safe and soon. (Note: if anyone asks for money or a code as “they have your pet,” this is a scam). https://www.pawboost.com/blog/7-effective-search-tips-for-finding-your-lost-cat/ https://petfbi.org/i-lost-a-cat/tips-to-lure-a-cat-back-home-2/

Owners - Go back to the location where the cat went missing as the cat will usually circle back to the location where they first went missing eventually. Stay there - in one localized area and set up a scent station using a scent that the cat is familiar with - worn clothing or shoes from the owner. Hang that scent out high so that it can travel and guide the cat back to that area. Post fliers with your contact information and cats picture in the location that the cat went missing --especially for those not on social media. If the cat is spotted the information can help provide what direction it was traveling. Check with local animal shelters in case he was picked up. Prayers your cat is found safely. Also please be prepared that the cat may not be on your timeline and if you have to stay in the area a little longer to get him - please do so. Thank you.

Please go out at night after traffic noise has down, shine flash light under bushes and things cat can hide under and also in trees. Check out any green spots looking back at you. Call cat and wait for a meow back. CRITICAL INCASE CAT IS TRAPPED SOMEWHERE; start from where cat went missing and workout for a radius of 2 miles, knock on doors and ask in person if they will check sheds, garages, window wells, and other outside buildings for cat. ALSO, put cats bed or an old pair of your tennis shoes to help cat know where your porch is. NOT, a litter box that will attract other animals that may keep your cat away. Scared cats usually don't travel far from where they go missing and will wait for YOU to come find them. Also stop by local shelters and rescues everyother day to see if cat has been. turned in. GOOD LUCK
