Message from Owner

Our sweet Katra got outside over the weekend and we have not been able to find her. She is very nervous of strangers and has never been outside before so I believe she's scared and hunkered down somewhere. We're so worried about her in this heat. She is my daughter's best friend and greatly missed. Please help us bring her back home!

LOST CAT ADVICE Tonight when the neighborhood is quiet put their litterbox*, some of your worn clothes, and their favorite food* outside the door the cat went out. Go sit outside that door and softly call them, not frantic calling. Playing a video of a crying kitten may also be useful. Listen for response, they generally don’t go far. When the cat responds try and let them come to you rather than chasing after it. You may have success leaving the door cracked open where the cat can just come in the house on its own or the garage door up a bit where they can come in. Consider buying, borrowing or renting a live trap to place out early mornings just before dawn or late afternoon just before dark. Do not leave trap out unwatched overnight though or out during the heat of the day. Leaving water in a shady spot or two near the doorway is advisable especially in this heat. *If you are in an area that has predators, do not leave the litter box or food out unsupervised as it may attract them. Carefully check inside (closets, cabinets, attic), any outbuildings, garages, attics, vehicles, anywhere that the cat could have entered and gotten closed in. Ask your neighbors to check as well. Create a flyer and post to all neighborhood, city, and lost & found Facebook groups in your area. Make sure all nearby shelters are notified that the cat is missing, provide them with a flyer and your contact information. Go in person daily or frequently as possible to check their recent intakes. Shelters are busy and have a lot of staff members and volunteers in and out daily. The telephone staff may not realize the cat has been brought in. If the cat is microchipped, double check to ensure the microchip registration is current and on a national data base. Hope kitty is home soon!
