Please give some food, water and shelter but if the kitty is not at imminent danger or looks injured, sick, underfed, hair matted or if is declawed I think it´s better to let it go in the SAME AREA where was found AS LONG as it´s a low traffic area where no stray dogs usually roam and if it´s an area where houses are nearby , some kitties have owners and most of them know how to go back home specially if they are fixed, just keep and eye HOWEVER if the kitty stays, please continue feeding it and giving water and shelter and please have the kitty checked for a microchip, it can be checked at any vet´s office, it´s free, or at the shelter but please do not leave at the shelter because the kitty is at high risk of getting killed if not claimed within 72 hours however please leave a report there in case someone is looking for this Kitty and if someone claims ownership, please ask for proof of ownership as pictures and veterinarian records. Please also post in Craigslist Lost and Found, in the web page 24petconnect which is linked to some shelters, in Pawboost, nextdoor, MyLostPetAlert , findingrover, and in LostMyKitty in the Facebook page RGV Kitty Lovers (Lost and Found) and in the RGV Lost and Found Cats If after several days and attempts to find the owner no one claims this kitty and if you find a potential adopter, please do a home visit when you deliver it to the house of the potential adopter to check it´s a safe environment and sign an adoption contract to try to make sure the kitty will go to a loving, caring home and will not end up being used as target for shooting, bait for fighting dogs, experimentation or snake food. please convince adopters to spay/neuter to do their part to help control the pet population, way too many homeless pets, sadly not enough homes. In the upper valley there is a lady who takes kitties to get spayed (or neutered) to her vet in Reynosa and brings them back, when kitties are pregnant I think it´s about $70.00, otherwise is $60.00, her name is Otilia Meza, in the lower valley, Erica Lerma Aguilar and Aleida Cedillo take kitties to get spayed or neutered to Matamoros and bring them back, it´s $60.00 but believe me, it´s the best money you will ever spend because a kitty and her offspring can have 370,000 kitties in 7 years so by spaying a cat, you are preventing this amount of kitties. Thank you for rescuing this pretty kitty.
