Tips to Help a Missing Cat Find its Way Home 🐈🐾🐈‍⬛ Most cats stay nearby, however, be aware that they are great at hiding and can fit into small/tight spaces that you wouldn’t expect. CAUTION: Put his/her litter box on the porch (or in your garage with the door opened a few inches) along with a blanket or article of clothing that has his scent and yours on it. *Be advised that a litter box can invite other cats or predators to your property* Check frequently to see if he’s out there. They can smell from a long ways away. Look in sheds, garages, under cars and bushes, up in trees, and in window wells. Ask your neighbors if you can look in their backyards and sheds (he may be trapped inside). Remember, if you have a garage keep the door open enough so he can get inside. It’s also a good idea put something of his out there, so he can identify that he’s found his home. Put up flyers and go to local animal shelters in person—don’t just call! The best time to look for him is late at night and early in the morning when it’s quiet out. Call his name softly and listen for him to answer—shaking his favorite treat container can also be helpful. Return to places you have looked and search those areas again.
