Make it smell like home outside....hang a blanket from the owner's bed or worn clothing with their scent, outside, but out of the weather, dog bed, food, etc. Make a LOST DOG sign and put in front of the sitter's home ASAP. (Cardboard and magic marker works in a pinch, though the neon- colored poster board catches more eyes.) Post as many flyers in the area as you can and give one to your mail carrier. Put in page protectors with the bottom taped shut to keep any rain from destroying them. Call microchip company to make sure your contact info is correct if chipped. Notify ALL surrounding shelters. Physically visit shelters at least twice a week and don't forget to check your other messages often. Not everyone will or can comment on this post.
