Message from Owner

Hey Cambridge area friends, this is my Smushy.🥹 I got him as a kitten on Christmas Eve of 2021 and tested positive for COVID the day after Christmas that year. I stayed in bed with him that whole two weeks, snuggling and playing with him until he’d fall asleep, and he has been with me ever since. He has never once shown any interest in going outside nor has he ever been loose outside, but a couple of days ago he got out, and no one has seen him. This cat means so much to me, and I am holding out hope that he’s hiding away somewhere nearby (we are outside of Rockdale, near the intersection of B and 73)! If you see him around, please let me know. You can message me here or text me. I wouldn’t recommend approaching him as he will most likely run off. His litterbox is outside, so hopefully he will be able to sniff his way ! If anyone has any other suggestions for how to help him find his way, please feel free to message me or comment! ❤️

My advice to you is to spend every minute you can searching for your cat they are usually very hard to find it depends if you skittish or if he's friendly if he's ever been outside before all that makes a difference and you need to use every little trick you can think of no matter how silly they sound lost cats will move during the daytime yes most cats move at night when it's quiet and then it's playtime put little piles of cat food and safe areas on sidewalks and alleyways around your neighborhood to keep them around put some smelly sardines with soft cat food or anything that stinks that they like check them frequently he might stick around if he finds one you need to look a lot the first few days because then you don't even know where to start to look he could be anywhere get his picture out there as much as possible the more people that see him obviously the better chances you are of finding him whatever is stinky thing that you have with his scent on it and your scent on it and put it out in your yard around your house he's close enough that sent will draw him back in when things quiet down after dark hopefully

Look up in the trees. Look under bushes. Tap on cars. Look around the top of tires, they go into cars for warmth. Use a flashlight and look in all small dark spaces. She/he may not respond to your voice, but the flashlight will reflect in their eyes. Don't give up. 🌹 I apologize if I have previously sent this to you, but I would rather repeat it, than you not have it in.

Put his or her dirty litter on deck along with food, water, bedding and some sort of shelter. A cat can smell his litter a mile away. This is the very first thing you need to do. If you can leave your door open at night just enough for him to get in that would be great. They hide during the day and roam at night. If he comes back at night and can't get it he will leave. When looking for him look low and under everything. From decks, porches, covers to grills and behind things like hedges. When looking at night take a flash light to see his eyes. If he likes treats take his bag and shake it when you’re out looking. Put up posters all around your house in about a 3 block area. Also post the large stores and gas stations in your area. Call local shelters and police to report him missing. I hope you get your baby back soon.
