Message from Owner

I am a first-time cat owner and Dax came into my life when he was just six weeks old. I fell in love with him immediately and we’ve grown closer over the past year and a half. He’s like my baby, like a human child, that I have taken the best care of For this long time. He’s been with me through some rough times and makes the days so much better. He has left a hole in my heart and I’ve been devastated ever since he never came back . Taxes is literally my entire world. He is wearing an orange AirTag collar with a bell that says “Dax” with my phone number on it but his location never changes, only the date and time since “last seen.” I’m praying I get him back soon. He is supposed to be an indoor cat, and I don’t want him to wind up injured or suffering on the streets when he has a . I miss playing with him and coming to him.

Suzan Reynolds I will do that as much as I can. Right at dusk or maybe I’ll start waking up really early as well and look for him then. Thank you for your advice and concern. You’re sweet. 🙏

Jennifer Wylde Perez Clearly he has an opinion on walking on a leash - If he acted that way - that is not for him for sure!!! Geez I hope that he is OK and gets himself home - if you go out at night when there is no activity and shake a bag of treats and call to him and listen for a very soft meow. I truly wish you all the best - this is ing me - and I can imagine what it is doing to you!!

Suzan Reynolds thank you so much! Oh, and I forgot to say that I definitely have a harness for him and we tried to go out walking with the leash, but it was too much for him to handle, and he would growl and hiss at me and act like a completely different cat, so that did not work out very well. I even tried giving him treats and stuff, but still he would attack me when I tried to do that. Lol

Jennifer Wylde Perez I understand regarding not being able to have a catio as it is not your house - I hope and pray this boy comes back to his Momma soon!

Suzan Reynolds thank you so much. The only downside here is that I’m staying with these people and one of them is the guitarist in our band. So it’s not my house and I can’t install a catio, even though I wish I could and I would do it. I haven’t tried spraying my perfume on my tires but I will do that next. I put one of his litter boxes outside, some of his toys, and just today, put my unwashed sweater on the shrub along the house

Jennifer Wylde Perez It seems as if you learned a valuable lesson regarding who is the thinking rational person versus obliging a meowing cat and listening to people say let him out. There are things you can do for the cat that are safe - like install a screened catio type thing for him to experience outside safely or get a secure harness and walk him on a leash. Please do not beat yourself up over this decision - although I am with you regarding only cat owners know and my pets are my kids as well. He is a beautiful cat - that can sense if you lose hope - so please do not lose hope and talk to him in your mind - tell him to come back that you are waiting for him and miss him (I honestly believe that telepathic thoughts work). I did read a post from about a year ago where the girl sprayed her perfume on the 4 tires of her car and her male cat was found under the car. I hope and pray he returns - he is probably hiding in what he feels is a safe spot - very afraid and will come out when he thinks it is safe. I hope to read REUNITED soon. 🙏🙏

Suzan Reynolds thank you so much. I literally have done all of this, except bang on neighbors’ doors, which I don’t want to do. But anytime I’m outdoors and I see someone walking, I ask them if they’ve seen him and so far nothing. His AirTag has been stuck in the same location for seven days since he disappeared, but then on the eighth day, yesterday, I did get an alert that he was like two houses down from my place, but I couldn’t find him. I brought treats with me and called his name calmly and nothing. He has a bell on his collar and I didn’t hear anything either. It’s very strange that it’s updating but yet I don’t physically see him there. And then I’ve tried several times to play the sound on the AirTag, but it just always tells me it’s too far and out of reach. It was a tremendous mistake to let him out because he was supposed to be strictly an indoor cat, but my landlord suggested he goes out because he started meowing and wanted to be let out. So I obliged to make everyone happy including my cat, but now I’m the one who’s miserable searching and searching for him and I’ve been stressed out out of my mind because I see him like my child, and I never had children so he is like my baby. Only true cat owners will understand this, nobody else will no matter how sympathetic they seem. And we have coyotes in the back river bottom that is behind the house that spreads out to acres of just brush. I’m appalled that nobody else in the house thought like me, and was hesitant and reluctant to let him out, but yet they were like it was a free-for-all, “just let him out” blah blah blah. When I first moved in, the landlord was all about my cat, having free reign of the entire house, then he started meowing and wanted to go outside, so I understand that, but the cat didn’t understand that there are predators out there, cars also, disease, evil people who might try to poison him or steal him. I’m just going out of my mind and absolutely heart tered and absolutely devastated that he is not coming back home. I’m livid that I took such good care of him all this time, for about a year and a half, and now it’s all down the drain and he could be suffering on the streets. I did research on pets, and a cat is considered property, so legally, he is my property and I should be fully within my rights to do what I think is best for my own cat. Nobody else had the authority to tell me what I should do with my cat because he’s mine and I know best. Especially for people who had never owned a cat of their own in their lives. I’m just devastated and f*cking appalled.
