Message from Owner

Nacho is a sweet 14 yo cat who loves spending his days outside. I adopted him as a rescue cat. In the summer, he loves to spend his nights outside. Unfortunately, during the night of July 12 to 13, he faced 4 racoons in front of our hse. Haven’t been seen since then. No sign of fight: no fur, no blood. I have been doing rounds every night with his food and calling him, but no luck so far. If you see him, please contact me. I would so much love to reunite with my cat! Thank you

Please place his bedding 🛏outside, along with the owner's unwashed clothing👚👖 front and back door 🚪with a can of tuna 🐟 on each entrance, you can leave your garage door a bit open as well. In case it comes in that way. And leaving food there as well. Also vacuumed home 🧹dirt in a stocking hanging it in front and back of home🏡 enterence . You can also add some catnip 🌱in a stocking hanging by your entrances. Show your neighbo🖼picture of the cat. Ten houses to the left ten house to the right front and back if they spot him to give you a call☎️ immediately. Go early in the ☀️morning and shake treats calling the cats name when things are quiet.. Tell neighbors to check their sheds and garage.Just in case it's trapped.. Also, you can install a camera 📹to monitor and see if the cat is around your house . Best of luck 🍀finding your kitty 🙏 ❤️🏡🐾

Is he microchipped? Probably not far. Keep going out. Check all sheds, garages, under porches around: could be stuck. Crucial to keep going out each night and early in the mornings, calling and shaking the treats/kibble bag. There's controversy over putting out litter but I know people who do. Put his/her used litter box outside on the balcony/front porch/outside where you think she got out, for him/her to smell and reorient herself home. Also put out some of your old used clothing with your smell on it for the same reason. Check the sheds and garages in the area. When it gets dark outside, go outside and shake a box of treats while calling his/her name; call in a very high and calm voice, every quarter of an hour or twenty minutes, for a full 5 minutes, and do this every half hour minimum, for a minimum of 3 hours in total, and at minimum call your cat 6 times a night, more if you wish, also in early morning before noise of day muffles you hearing her mewing back at you.

Most indoor only cats and limited outdoor access cats are found within 2.5 houses of the house they escaped from. Indoor only cats will be hiding out during the day and typically come out at night when it's dark and quiet as they feel more safe. The best thing to do is to talk to your neighbors during the day to see if they have seen your cat. Do not rely on social media. The best way to find your cat is on foot by talking to people during the day and looking outside very LATE at night. See if your neighbors can leave their garages and sheds open for a few hours. Your cat may not come out right away once the doors are opened. This is because when cats are in survival mode, they typically do not act normal. You can also print mini flyers and attach them to your neighbors' doors if they are not home. You can use painter's tape so that it is easy for the homeowner to remove. Post on Nextdoor & Ring App. It alerts neighbors in a 2-3 mile radius. Please make sure that your cat has a way to get back into your house 24/7. You want to leave open a garage door (including the door that goes from the garage to the house) sliding glass door, or window that they exited from as well as some of your recently worn clothing outside of the entry way. ***Do NOT put your cat's litter box outside as it can attract predators.*** It's VERY important that you look for your cat late at night. Between 11pm to 5am are ideal times to find a missing indoor only cat. 3 AM is the best time to find a cat as this is the time they become most active and responsive. Look up in the trees as well. Make sure to use a flashlight to look for the glow of his eyes. Shake a bag of their favorite treats while CALMLY talking (in a normal voice) to your cat. Make sure that you pause after calling to see if you can hear your cat meowing. Indoor only cats are very frightened outdoors and will only come out when they feel safe. You may have to trap your cat as they will be in survival mode (sometimes they start acting a bit feral) and will not act the same way that they do in the house.
