Please report your lost baby to your local animal control as well as your local rescues, vets and shelters with a picture in case they are brought in injured or for a chip check. Include Groomers and Pet Stores. Put up lots of flyers! Give to neighbors, attach to mailboxes, put up at stores, library, grocery stores. Give to your postal carrier as they see animals all the time! Sit outside and read a book out loud, the sound of your voice may lure him/her back if he’s close by. Drag his/her bedding around the area of your home. If it rains you may have to do this numerous times. Register for free at www.pawboost.com and www.petfbi.org These accounts will send out an alert that she/he is missing, and send you an alert if anyone were to report a cat found near that location. That account could help get your cat back home too. Put on Facebook lost pets page in your town/state and on your local town page! Check trees, under, in and behind things in your yard and others often. Make your neighbors aware. Please check yours and neighbor’s garages, sheds, porches, barns, basements and under and in vehicles. Cats like to come out @ night so leave A LIGHT ON THE PORCH WITH FOOD and IT'S BEDDING near a CRACKED OPENED DOOR OR WINDOW FOR ENTRY.... NEVER put out litter boxes as it could be used by another cat which could DETER return or attract predators. Use a camera or baby monitor to watch for his/her return, using a Havaheart trap with tuna or smelly fish to catch them as well as an unlaundered piece of your laundry - If do you put food out be very careful and monitor very closely as it can attract predators. You can borrow a trap from animal control or cat rescue. The ACO or a rescue can help you on how to trap a cat. Never leave trap unattended. If there are sightings set up a feeding station and camera at sighting area, then when he is spotted on camera you can trap him. It can be helpful to use a flashlight at night to spot its eyes! Look around shrubs, under cars, decks, porches, in garages, sheds, up in trees, in yours and neighbor’s yards. Calling for it several times a day and shaking treats, indoor cats can become disoriented. Calling out helps in RECOGNIZING YOUR VOICE AND DIRECTION! Your cat is in survival mode and may not act as they usually did, he is afraid. Continue to check & recheck EVERYWHERE. Monitor Facebook, Craigslist and Nextdoor sites for found cats. www.wanderingpawsk9.com is a reputable pet tracker out of Massachusetts to help you and they do multi-state tracking. Drag scent trails… Your cat may be hiding under a porch, a shed, or a car, behind bushes, or in a wooded area. Go out late at night with a flashlight that might reflect against the cat’s eyes, and call out to your cat gently. Or shake a bag of treats, sometimes better than your voice to attract a cat that’s scared. Create scent trails on the grass and ground leading up to your home (or to a trap, ideally monitored with a trail cam, so you can respond quickly when the cat is in the trap). Get a towel and rub it with your dirty laundry, blankets, socks, or anything else with the scent of home. (Do not use kitty litter.) Tie a rope to the towel and drag it from the areas where you think the cat might be, creating scent trails leading to your house (or the trap). You won’t smell the scent on the towel or the ground, but the cat will. (If you use a trap, load it with a little cat food, chicken or tuna, enough to attract the cat from the trail that leads up to it. Rely on the scent trails to get your cat to the trap.) Rain and snow will wash away the scent trails, so you’ll have to drag again afterwards. Also, renew the trails every couple days. Try to remain patient and hopeful. Some cats only show up after many days or even weeks. Important: . Never leave a trap unattended, always keep an eye on it, checking it every 1/2 hour in person or with a trail cam. Position the trap close to where the cat escaped or was last seen. . Trail cam photos and videos are marked with time stamps, helpful to know if and when the cat shows up but doesn’t go into the trap. . Post flyers in the area with a picture of your cat and your contact information. . Even if you don’t have a trap or a trail cam, scent trails leading from several directions to your home can work.

Start walking outside day and night, especially at dusk as he’s probably hiding somewhere near, so check all the hiding spots around your house outside (under deck, sheds, bushes, etc.), and your neighbors yard too and let them know. Call his name out but very calmly and softly & bring a noise that he’s familiar with like shake a bag of hard food & keep calling his name and keep going outside. He’s out there close by hiding as he must be scared. Indoor cats Don’t roam very far.. wherever he left from, leave the door a little bit open and put some familiar scents outside for him like his bedding, your socks, and his most smelly soft foods… keep going outside day & nite & call his name calmly. He’s out there close by so Do Not give up & much good luck🙏

Do this ASAP Put out items with your scent on it, like an item of dirty clothing, towel, blankets. Put vacuum dust outside the door. Leave out a bowl of water. (if INDOOR Only cat Will be hiding in silence and fear either in your yard or neighbors check under bushes, desks and sheds) DO NOT put litter box out it will attract feral cats and predators. Go out at dawn and dusk and shake treats bag. Call as may times as possible, but night time is best Because its quite. Ask neighbors if you can check garages, sheds and under decks and their security camera recordings in the mid morning hours since cats are more likely to come out when it's quiet during the night. Put up 11x17 poster in neighborhood. Use a flashlight at night because you will see a reflection of their eyes, look up trees and post on your local town community page and next-door Neighborhood app.
