Description

Toby is a solid black male cat with green eyes, a white patch of white hairs just under his neck and weighed 6 lbs. at last appointment with veterinarian. He has an unusual habit of shaking his tail when it is in the air.

Message from Owner

In June,, Toby came to us as a stray and initially was very weary of humans. With time, patience and love , he learned to be a spoiled, happy and playful house cat. He was typically allowed outdoors under supervision and was slated to be fixed before he wandered away. He was accidentally let out by a family member and has not been seen since October 17th of 2020. He is my baby and is very much loved and adored. My heart is completely broken as a result of his disappointment. If you see him, please contact me directly as he is such an important part of our family. Thank you.

Owners of lost cats on the lost and found pet pages have said that these tips work, especially numbers 1, 3 and 5: 1. Put wet/smelly food out in the evening. Pick it up during the day or if you notice it's attracting strays. 2. Put dirty litter box outside; keep an eye on it if there are stray cats or other wildlife in your area. It may attract them, which could keep your cat away. 3. Put out an unwashed article of your clothing or a dirty sheet/towel/t-shirt. You can also make "scent strips" from these items and place them in trails leading to your door. 4. Go out in the evening with a flashlight and look under porches, sheds, hollow logs, etc. 5. You can make chum trails leading to your door by using a can of cat food and a gallon of warm water. Shake well and sprinkle in trails leading to your door. You can also make scent trails using dirty litter. 6. Your cat will be most active between dusk and dawn. Trying shaking a bag of treats and softly calling your cat's name while searching with a flashlight to catch the reflection of your cat's eyes. 7. Get fliers up right away and ask neighbors to check garages, etc. 8. File a lost report with the appropriate shelter and visit *in person* often. Most cats do not go far, especially those that are not used to spending time outdoors. I have been informed that putting the litter box out may attract other creatures. However, it worked for me. Just keep an eye out. Look up in the trees! Walk your neighborhood in increasingly large circles around your home. Your footsteps will give your kitty a scent trail home. Repeat! Give a photo and description to your mail carrier and newspaper delivery person Get a pet tracker.

Hello, saw your post on PawBoost. I hope Toby finds his way home soon. I understand the pain of losing a kitty (who eventually found his way home) and I wanted to pass on some tips about maybe finding your kitty. If you haven't already, put flyers in many neighbors mailboxes, take to local vets, SPCA and veterinary emergency offices and check with them daily. Look inside, under and around EVERYWHERE - get on hands and knees and look under low structures. Check daily. Do not think they would not go there. Check anyway - only takes a few seconds. If scared, cats can hide in places you would never think. Walk around, stop in a location, call their name and then wait 15 seconds to see if you hear an answer. Also, check outside under all bushes, low decks crawl spaces and sheds inside and out. Ask neighbors if okay to check around their property and inside shed(s). Check any culverts under driveways if there are any and look up. If was chased up a tree, may not be sure or able to get down especially if declawed in the front. Declawed cats can go up a tree but require front claws to come down. Also set out in a protected area from weather a cardboard box with anything he has slept on and an article of your clothing and leave out fresh water daily. I do hope that you find Toby or he finds you, very soon.
