Message from Owner

Camilla is my 1.5 yr old grey cat she has a white spot on her neck, she doesn’t not have a collar on because she’s like her personal space, she is friendly but she doesn’t love being pet or pick upped all the time. She’s a very sassy cat. She got out around 2 am.

The best time to look for a cat is late at night after the daytime sounds settle down. Go for a walk and take a flashlite scan into the trees and under bushes. A cat can fit in any hole that they can fit their head thru they have collapsible shoulder blades. Most indoor cats stay close to home but come out at night. Most important is to make your presence known. Go out every half hour after 9pm and call for them and stop and listen it's amazing what you can hear late at night. Get your voice and scent out there. They are looking for you also. Look for glowing eyes at night. If there is a dog sibling that the cat likes take the dog on the walk. If you open canned cat food or shake treats do so on your walk. If the cat has a noisy toy shake it on your walk. Make posters and put in every business within a mile of the home. Let your mail carrier know. If there are teenagers in the neighborhood let them know they love reward money and being a hero. Check all local shelters. Let local veterinarians know your info. If there is a feral colony near you check it out. If you can find the feeder of the colony give them your info. Make large signs and put in neighbors yards at least a mile radius of the home. This ensures that everyone in the area has the info. Put post it notes on your neighbors doors to look in sheds and garages. Post on every Facebook forum in your area. Post on Pawboost and For the love of Louie. Check Humane Society. So important to make your presence known every half hour after 9pm. Make a bed out of the cats carrier and put soiled clothes from inside the home around the bed. Put it as close to the house as you can. Leave a shed or garage open check them often. Camp in your yard. Most indoor cats are found late at night. Don't give up. Do not put food out or litter it attracts every animal in the area including raccoon opossum feral cats and coyotes. Your cat will know that there is food inside and that is incentive to keep them close to the house. If you are outside that's OK but take it in when you go back in. If your cat sees a predator eating their food it might make them retreat further. Most important is to let them know you are looking for them. Hope you find your baby

If she is an indoor cat, she probably is nearby. Indoor cats don’t know the outside environment, so they often are hiding in fear, very close to the home. Here are some researched ideas on how to find a lost indoor cat: Inside only cats rarely go far. They go into survival mode and hide in silence. Most of them will not respond when they are in survival mode. 3 AM/early morning is the best time to find a missing indoor only cat. This is the time they become most active and responsive. Sit and quietly call for your kitty. Don’t yell! Standing is intimidating to cats. Try to stay low. Don’t bring a big group of people with you. Just the owner who has a familiar voice. However, they may not respond to your voice. They are in survival mode. Be patient. Don't give up, it can take time to find a missing indoor only cat. Use a flashlight as late at night as you can to look in trees, under cars and in bushes. A recent pet owner found their cat in the street drain ! Try to look for the glow of their eyes. The best chance of you finding your cat is to do a search of the area. Most indoor only cats will be within 160 feet of your home. Survival mode lasts 5 to 14 days but can last longer. Once their hunger gets to a maximum they snap out of it, and come out of hiding. The majority of cats will try to make a break for home on the 5th night. If it is safe, crack, the door open where the cat escaped. If you have other animals contain them in a different room so that you can do this. Owners have reported seeing their cat on video coming up to their door but the cat can’t get in. Place some dirty socks, clothing, and pillow cases etc. with your scent on them outside near where they exited. YOUR scent will attract your kitty. If you have a garage, place the items near the garage door and crack the door enough for them to get in. Refresh the items every day to keep the smell strong. IMPORTANT: DO NOT leave the litter box or food outside. It can attract predators and aggressive animals that could scare your cat further away. Animals are territorial. Tomcats will be attracted to the waste in a litter box. That’s why cats cover up their waste to avoid predators and aggressive cats. Ask your neighbors if you can go in their backyard and look around or check in their shed, garage, etc. Look around the air conditioners and under cars . Asking others to look for you doesn’t always work. People don’t follow through. They may not be able to bend down and look under decks, etc. It's VERY important that you look as late at night or early in the morning as you can. One owner asked his neighbors if he could check in the backyard during the evening and in their shed, and under their deck. He also contacted the police and let them know that he would be searching in backyards during the evening hours. Good idea! If you have other animals, watch them. If they are spending a lot of time looking out a certain window, that’s a good indication the missing cat is in that area. Wildlife and motion activated cameras are also helpful. Ask neighbors to check their Ring camera if they have one . Many people are successful trapping their indoor only cats. If you decide to trap, you must watch the trap very closely. Early morning is a good trapping time. YouTube has some good videos on how to use a humane trap. Trapping is very effective. In addition make mini flyers and hand them out to your neighbors. Put a LARGE sign in your front yard that says: LOST PET LIVES HERE. Include contact info and a photo. Contact every vet clinic, emergency clinic, groomer, and pet store in the area. Mailing a flyer with your information to businesses is one way to get the word out. Join every lost pet site and post information on the site. Contact the Humane Society and all shelters. Tell your mail delivery person and any food delivery people in the area. Lawn workers and construction people may have seen your cat. Stay strong! Don’t give up. Good luck.😻

Liz Fisher I don’t have a garage, I was thinking of leaving it out last night but I was unsure because of the strays, and London rd, I was looking for her with flash lights and had food, she barely come to her name to begin with she’s very food driven, but also not very social. And thanks for next door I just downloaded it!

Do you have a garage door that you can leave open a little bit? Which Dollar General in Delaware? Look for her tonight if not home with a flashlight to catch the reflection of her eyes. Post also on Nextdoor app.
