Indoor only kitties usually only go five houses away. Put something with your scent on it ( unwashed clothes) outside. If you have any other cats put something with their scent on it too. Check under your porch if you have one. Check under grills, sheds, in garages, and I’m basements. Check your drawers. They may sound silly but it happens. The cat could've gotten stuck in your neighbors shed. Check yours as well as your neighbors. Also check up in trees in case the cat got treed. Go door-to-door and ask if anyone has seen the kitty, even put flyers in people's mailboxes. Leave bowls of stinky food, such as mackerel or sardines. Shake a bag of treats or cat food while calling their name.If there are any abandoned houses or for sale houses, with no one living in them check there. Also check down sewer drains just in case. Some cats go in sewer pipes and they can't find their way out. Also look around at night under bushes and in shrubs with a bright flashlight. It may catch on the kitty's eyes. Looking at night when it's quieter is better. You can also set a trap to see if you can catch the kitty. The trap will have to be monitored because you may catch other cats and critters as well. Most indoor cats don’t go more than five or six houses away in either direction. It is very likely that he is near. He was probably seeking warmth so ask your neighbors to check their garages, under their porches and ring cameras if they have them. I can speak from personal experience that shining a flashlight into bushes is extremely helpful, especially at night. That’s how I found my parents’ cat. Drag scent trails… He may be hiding under a porch, a shed, or a car, behind bushes, or in a wooded area. Go out late at night with a flashlight that might reflect against his eyes, and call him gently. Or shake a bag of treats, sometimes better than your voice to attract a cat that’s scared. Create scent trails on the grass and ground leading up to your home (or to a trap, ideally monitored with a trail cam, so you can respond quickly when the cat is in the trap). Get a towel and rub it with your dirty laundry, blankets, socks, or anything else with the scent of home. (Do not use kitty litter.) Tie a rope to the towel and drag it from the areas where you think the cat might be, creating scent trails leading to your house (or the trap). You won’t smell the scent on the towel or the ground, but the cat will. (If you use a trap, load it with a little cat food, chicken or tuna, enough to attract the cat from the trail that leads up to it. Rely on the scent trails to get your cat to the trap.) Rain and snow will wash away the scent trails, so you’ll have to drag again afterwards. Also, renew the trails every couple days. Try to remain patient and hopeful. Some cats only show up after many days or even weeks. Important: . Never leave a trap unattended, always keep an eye on it, checking it every 1/2 hour in person or with a trail cam. Position the trap close to where the cat escaped or was last seen. . Trail cam photos and videos are marked with time stamps, helpful to know if and when the cat shows up but doesn’t go into the trap. . Post flyers in the area with a picture of your cat and your contact information. . Even if you don’t have a trap or a trail cam, scent trails leading to your home can work.

First it is suggested that you crack your windows open as the one thing an indoor cat knows is the smell of their house. Second, when an indoor cat gets out they are usually very close to their home - usually a couple of hundred feet. They will find some place to hunker down and stay there until they are hungry or thirsty. They will come out in the middle of the night (not at dawn or dusk when predators may be around). Do not leave lights on as cat may feel more secure venturing out when it is darker. It is also suggested if it is safe to do so to leave door that tge cat got out of cracked opened with a bowl of water and bowl of smelly food like tuna inside door with camera on the door that will alert you when there is any movement. Put out an article of your unwashed clothing and bedding- they can recognize the scent and it may help them find their way home. Indoor cats do not travel far they may be hiding nearby- check under porches, bushes and even under a parked car. If you call her/him, call gently- do look while it's dark and quiet- - Put flyers with photo and decent reward in your local Stewarts; post on Steve Caparizzo's FB page and your neighborhood Nextdoor app as well as Pawboost asap! Notify your neighbors!! Let the animal shelter and the own animal control officer know as well. Post a flyer with the cat's picture and a reward in local Stewart's etc. If someone has picked them up, seeing the flyer with a reward may motivate them to return the kitty to you. All that helped me get my boy back. I will pray for your cat’s safe return real soon! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
